Why?
Why do some games restrict what we can and cannot do? And even worse, why do others dangle metaphorical candy in front of us that we just can't have?
Whats this thread's motivation?
GTA IV, more specifically TLaD...
A little before the expansion came out, Rockstar's website put up the new vehicles that we would receive...
One of them was a Tow Truck, and the description read...
"While not exactly a speedy escape vehicle, the Towtruck does have it's own unique benefits"
Now let's add one and one. What does that equal? Two? Wrong! Because after the game was released and people rushed to find the new vehicle and start causing mayham, they realised that the tow truck could not tow... WHAT? Why even have a tow truck in the game in the first place?
I'll tell you why. It's featured in one mission. Yes, one. You get to tow a car in it too! Hooray! So why can't you do it outside of the mission? NOBODY KNOWS!!! It's not even that hard to script! Mind you, I've done my research...
Many GTA fans were pissed off, but nobody was going to boycott the came because of this...
The same happened in the next expansion, TBoGT...
In the trailers we saw a huge helicopter lifting up a subway car. But this time, everyone knew that it wasn't going to be availible to dick around with, because GTA IV has serious limitations to what you can and cannot do, and it's a huge letdown seeing as San Andreas expanded the horizon from III and Vice City, making it so wide that nobody knew what IV would hold before it was released...
Big letdowns were had...
But that's about it. GTA is still a great game...
Anyway, I'm itching to hear stories like this about other games, so get to it.
