Yahtzee:
"RTS's suck because I don't have the patience for them".

To be fair... that's a good reason to not like them, but that's a personal issue of yours Yahtzee, not any fault of the actual game.

"These Graphics look cartoony." Most often in re: to Blizzard games and League of Legends. The former aren't cartoony, they're just updated and the latter has a nice aesthetic and excellent gameplay.

Honestly, there was one game called Ayden (sp?) Chronicles: The First Mage which was the only game I considered saying was bad for graphics because it was literally impossible to tell the difference between a forest path and impassable grass.

"Not enough blood, gore, swearing and titties. Dammit, if I'm supposed to shock my parents into pretending to love me, I need my video games to ooze a forced, fake edgy quality not unlike that kid in the black of the classroom who always draws pictures of a horribly mutated Santa Claus."

It wouldn't be so bad if it were only 8-year-old boys bitching about lack of sarcastic quote "hardcore" content, but that's a common complaint amongst adults who were supposed to have passed through the larval stage of being overly impressed by GOOOOOORE ages ago. Yeah, I know you think you're a big man with your screen full of bloodied entrails, but some of us are secure enough in our masculinity that we know how to find joy in the few weird, quirky, somewhat cartoonish games that manage to slip out between the utterly unstimulating brown and grey brick walls of macho games we've complacently come to accept as the norm.
Well, some of us are just into that sort of thing, and like our games to have a darker, more twisted side. I'm one of these. I don't hate colors, I just like dark tones in my games, and gore is one very common, but very good way of getting that in there.

Before Dragon Age Awakening was released, someone on the Bioware forum swore that they would never buy it because Velanna has the same hairstyle as Morrigan, and therefore the developers are lazy.

Sigh.

Anyhoo, the stupidest reason I've heard from someone is that a game isn't good if its on the PC, he disappointed me into a week long coma.
Platform supremacy just ain't cool kids.

Although in retrospect, my stupid reasons to shoot down games usually involve the game being on the Wii/DS. But I don't differentiate between the whole PC/360/PS3 shebang.
Awwwww, but I like games on the Wii and DS. I like all of the systems. As long as the game is good I can get used to what system it is on. Though I admit, some games on the Wii, normally gun games I can stand with the controller for it.

OT: The stupidest reason I have heard is "It got a bad score on ign." Why must people be so judgemental? =(

IGN knock down games for the most retarded reason ever.

"It doesn't have online co-op."

I don't know that many people that play online co-op.
They knocked down Scott Pilgrim vs. The World because of that reason. Four people shouting down a mic. doesn't seem like a good idea to me IGN. ¬_¬
Well, honestly, I agree with IGN for once. It's just a standard for games to, if they have multiplayer at all, include online play. And for a 4-player beat-em-up, it's just a no brainer. But I guess they were just going for the old-school arcade feel, which it absolutely maintains.

I'm gonna go with the graphics thing as well. Remember when the zelda game Wind Waker came out? Eww it's cell shaded, it looks bad, it's gonna be shit etc. etc. I didn't care, bought it and absolutely loved the game, the art style was awesome and the story was just...wow. There's a moment when you go I UNDERSTAND NOW!!! and it makes the whole game x100 better.

Also: goldeneye is gonna rock, if only for nostalgia purposes :3

The dumbest reasons have to be
1. The graphics suck. Seriously, the WHOLE reason you're not going to play is because it doesn't have cutting edge graphics?
2. Its on *insert system name here*. I can understand if you don't own the console, but still just because its on that system its automatically bad? What kind of deranged logic is that?
3. The main character looks "gay". Yes, I have heard that a lot from some idiots at my high school. Basically, if the guy doesn't have giant muscles, hes "gay".
And now for my favorite one of all
4. Its not realistic enough. Well ITS A GAME! You want realism, go out and join the army and hope you get shipped out. The funniest part is that they consider games like Call of Duty to be "realistic".

This guy I used to hang out with would shoot down any game that didn't have a multiplayer mode. Also, he was never interested in co-op, only once ever did I get him to play co-op multiplayer Quake II, which was actually fun and we got about half way through the game in only a few hours but he never wanted to go back to it after that.

Because it's 2D, early-and-blocky 3D, or because it's just plain old.

Graphics aren't a very big deal. Graphics don't make the game.
However, I'll admit that they help at least somewhat. The FF Crystal Chronicles games on the DS felt a little weak to me, due to the locales lacking the beauty of the original, and some of the models looking rather blocky or unpolished. I appreciate the cutesy-ish style, but they could have thrown in a few more polygons, couldn't they? I mean, the Selkies didn't even have BREASTS anymore!

.......Oh come on, you were thinking it too.

"It's not on the Dreamcast."

I really, really wish I was kidding.

Also, "Because it's got no guns" (Mirror's Edge, he clearly paid attention...)

Well, I couldn't bring myself to like Daggerfall (I wanted to, so badly!), because the graphics were pure shite...

Well, to each his own.

Although, if the graphics truly are irredeemable shit, I can understand how that would ruin a game.

I'm guilty of stereotyping games because they were made in Japan. Almost missed out on Fire Emblem because of that---I'm generally pretty ill-disposed toward Japanese games.
