Y'know that game dantes inferno? Its that game where your a knight in the crusades, who battles through hell to find his dead wife and bring her back. The game Features nudity in the lust section of hell and is gory for an 3rd person action game. I was watching a video for the game and i had a thought. "Boy, catholics are going to tear this APART!". I Looked on some gaming sites and not one had a story on protests on the game or somebody speaking out against it! How did this slip by the media? How come this (and ime not saying it should be. I am happy to see games not being persecuted everey second) is not being protested? What do you think about the game?

I also have sort of a side note. Does anybody remember any contoversy over gear/ god of war? Both extremely bloody games, and I dont think I heard anything on the news .

It's probably based on the famous (and very long) poem by the same name, which I'm fairly sure was very religious. It even introduced the idea of purgatory. So catholics are probably treating this game as 'a message to the people' or something. It's like if someone made a game of The Passion of the Christ.

I think it should slip by just fine. I mean it's just a game after all. Remember what happened when the media jumped Mass effect for having a sex scene and everyone and their dog hated them for it? I assume it's going to be the same thing. They don't get their facts straight we jump on them for it

Some games are more obscure than others, it's safe to say that if it's made by Rockstar and someone gets a papercut in it at one point or needs to remove their coat then there'll be controversy.

Its based on the poem, They had better add all the circles and the characters you read in the poem.

Meet julius Ceasar and kick his ass.

It's still early days. Wait 'til the game gets revealed outside of the gaming community. It's liable to kick off then, but it'll more than likely be the literature snobs who'll be up in arms.

Catholics aren't speaking out against this because they LIKE the game.

Imagine this; you're the father of a Catholic family, and your son just lied to you about spilling a glass of milk. In that case, I would just whip out Dante's Inferno, play the first level, and tell him "that's what happens to people who lie."

Best, parenting, ever!

That or maybe the christians just don't know about it yet(no one tell them!)

Oh and is it bad that I would totaly play The Passion of the Christ:The Game?

Nobody complained about God of War because the media was still covering the shitstorm that was the Hot Coffee mod. The church will probably get involved when it hits shelves since gameplay footage does show the use of some religious symbols (crosses and such). Since the game's creators are heralding that it will be one of the most graphic depictions of hell, I can only imagine that there will be blasphemous images that are guaranteed to offend someone.

Oh. In that case, I'd just show him the box art.

That ought to scare him away from anything.

Slip by until someone calls it out.
So no one says anything we're fine, but someone say Oh mm God a sex scene! then excpect the media to move it.

Didn't the makers hire people to act like protestors to increase publcity?
I just googled dantes inferno controversy. That was the first result. I.... am baffled as to why they would protest their own game.

As long as none of the demons flash side boob as they are being brutally disemboweled, there shouldn't be any trouble.

Well of course the main character isn't going to scare any kids into religion.

I was talking about the EA logo in the bottom corner. That's as scary as hell!
