Pixelmusement

This guy produces quite good videos on old dos games and has put quite a lot of effort into their production but for some reason no-one seems to be watching them not sure why.

Well, that makes me out of the running of getting more recognition... (Despite fitting the OP "requirements", I am immediately disqualified for even considering myself... I should be ashamed of myself...)

Anyway, despite getting "close" to the 100,000 sub club, I would still say <link=http://www.youtube.com/user/RebelTaxi99>RebelTaxi on the grounds that he reviews mainly animated shows from both the past and present, ranging from Cartoon Network shows to certain animes and video games that have caught his interest... He's currently about the review the latest Powerpuff Girls special that came out on the 20th of this month as well as working on a "big" Ed, Edd, n' Eddy review, if I'm not mistaken...

Anything labeled "I broke" "Operation: " or "I don't even" is great stuff. This guy is a beautiful troll an knows how to actually have fun while playing a video game, going beyond simply playing it to simply playing it and making fun of it. My words can't really do justice though, so feel free to peruse his stuff and decide for yourself. If you'd like specific recommendations, I'd say Surgeon Simulator, Street Sweeper or some of the Battlefield videos are a good start.

I'd like to recommend user ChipCheezum, his main LP channel being ChipCheezumLPs

http://www.youtube.com/user/ChipCheezumLPs

If you're into well crafted LPs that take a more in depth look into some or entire whole of a game being played Chip is your guy with his fantastic editing, and his co commentator Ironicus who is there for the ride (and the humor).

Not into commentary over the cutscenes? No problem! Just listen to his second playlist of the same LP not titled (Uncut Commentary) and you can enjoy the game's story!

EDIT: Someone already mentioned them on the thread.... DO WELL! TWO PLUGS FOR THE TEAM!

I kinda like <link=http://www.youtube.com/user/ThirdRateMinion>Third Rate Minion for video game things. Along with let's plays, they also cover a couple of conventions and make industry predictions. I really like their Ocarina of Time playthrough, where one of them plays the N64 version, and the other plays the 3DS, and they race to see who finishes the dungeon first. They also have a couple of videos where their obnoxious relative plays some kids games on the V-Smile, and that's good for a few laughs.

I can't really think of any small Youtube Channels that deserve more recognition. Most of the ones I watch regularly seem to be at or near one million subscribers. Channels like ThatOneVideoGamer, for example.

Occasionally, I check out AlphaOmegaSin. He likes to rant about video game related things and is not afraid to cuss, but is often pretty on the ball with much of what he says. Obviously a fan of heavy metal, too.

Game Grumps deserve all the subs. They're amazing. And shall continue to be. Forever and ever. Amen.

I was thinking more of channels that don't have over a 1000 subs

FarFromSubtle is the youtube channel, and the show is called Video Games Awesome. The main man behind the channel is Fraser, and he does livestreams with a few buddies of his, and his girlfriend, and they are one of the best LPers out there. They put so much work into what they do, which is just sitting back and having fun.

A few of the staples of their show is the Zelda series, the Phoenix Wright series, and they recently finished the Mass Effect trilogy with one of the best Shepards I've ever seen. Their shows just keep getting better and better.

And definitely not something that has close to one and a half million subscribers.

Those kinds of channels are just not on the radar of anybody but their friends for the most part.
And yet, they still deserve more subs than Game Grumps' needlessly high amount.

PortsCenter by far. I only just noticed that they have 2000 subs which is more than you were looking for but their videos only seem to average around 3000 views or so each. I consider PortsCenter to be clever, informative, interesting and witty and could definitely do with more recognition.

NOTE: I do not actually watch Game Grumps.

"Needlessly high"? Do you understand how subs work? It's not a number that some algorithm determined to represent their popularity. Every one of their subscribers is an actual fan. At any given time, it's exactly as high as it should be.

I've got two.

The first is Smeghead, a reviewer that reviews terrible movies.

The second is Thug Notes, a literary thug that discusses classic literature.

Both are funny, both are simply done, but are high quality.

Fantastic arrangements of video game music. Mostly Final Fantasy music, but there's a few other things as well, like Persona 4.
