A friend has been trying to get me to install Steam for ages and I finally did. All of the games he's suggested aren't available for Mac, though. I highly doubt there are many (any?) Mac gamers here.. stop snickering. I used those words together. Seriously, guys, c'mon. Work with me. Haha.. but, I figured why the hell not ask?

I'm not good at games, but I'm willing to try just about anything that isn't a puzzle game because they bore me to death. The only game I've ever played on my computer is Civ V and I enjoyed it for a while. I like the idea of RPGs (a lot), but the ones I've tried on various consoles have just been too hard for me because I have stupid fingers. Maybe playing on a computer will alleviate that problem?

So, what I'm looking for - Engrossing, not overly difficult, compatible with Mac and available on Steam, 'cause I have it.. so, by gosh and by golly, I'll use it. *awaits input*

Cave Story is...moderately difficult, though those not used to retro games may find a bit more of a challenge. All of Valve's games are Mac-compatible and they're all pretty awesome. Also, Psychonauts, which I really shouldn't have to sell you on - pretty much everyone agrees it's awesome... though, it is better if you have a controller or at least a proper mouse.

I said "everything by Valve". TF2 comes under that umbrella.

Thank you all. :) I'll check out Cave Story and Team Fortress 2, to be sure. I appreciate the help. Oh, and I do have a proper mouse. I hate the single-button mouse thing. It just makes life more difficult than it needs to be.

If anyone else has any suggestions (or, if anyone wants to give me a heads up on which Valve game would be a good jumping in point other than TF2), I'll be checking back.

Psychonauts is on steam, someone already mentioned it but I feel the need to reinforce that statement. One of Yahtzees first videos on here was for psychonauts and I think I remember him doing a good job on that. You said you don't like hard games, and it isn't very hard until the last level where it does get kind of frustrating, but I think people like to exaggerate how hard it really is

I'd recommend The Binding of Isaac. A dungeon crawler made by the same guys who made Super Meat Boy, although it isn't nearly as hard. One thing that sucks is that the achievements won't unlock but thats nitpicking. There's a big expansion coming out for it soon as well.

Well theres a Tab in steam that lists all Mac Games. There about 290 there, with Valves stuff and the GTA series to name a few. Pick something you like there. I actually just browsed a bit, theres some nice stuff there.

Apart from that, ill just second what all the intelligent and attractive people above me have said, and be on my way.

While you are right, normal cave story is a great free game, the steam version, cave story+ isn't free.
Yes, that's true. But it doesn't deserve your money any less.

If anything, I like to give my money to free games more. After all, if people love games and people enough to make it and give it out for free, they're really the ones who deserve the money.

Also, Terraria and Recettear, really good games on Steam.

Okay. For now, I've gotten TF2, Cave Story, Psychonauts and the the Orange Box. That should keep me occupied for a while. Possibly quite a while, depending. Thanks again, everyone. I'll let you know how it goes!
