No, I wasn't, but I suppose it could be read that way. It was more of a hypothetical sittuation. Why, supposing I was sucidal, would I have to carry my suffering, just for the sake of others? Surely, it is my choice whether I live or not.

I personally think of it as a terrible thing and decision,
Then why have an avatar like that, hypocrite.
First of all, nice resurrection, Thread Necromancer, second, I find this avatar funny, if you don't that's fine.
EDIT: The necromancy comment is more directed at Scientific DJ.

hmm, i beleive that it should be legal...(how can you arrest some1 after they've killed themselves?), we treat animals much kinder when it comes to death as if a human has cancer, the hospital is not allowed to "put them down" instead let them suffer 'till they're dead, with animals we stop them suffering if there is no other way, so suicide should be allowed if their life is absolutly horrific =D

If it's euthanasia for something like cancer, then sure. If it's depression and the likes, help is needed or they make the biggest mistake, everything can always get better.

I figured it might have been hypothetical, still, had to be sure :p

And yes, it really is your choice, but every choice has consequences. Another hypothetical situation (that is fairly depressing): Let's say you were married and had a son, and you caught a glimpse of a possible future where if you killed yourself your son would soon follow. If you were in that situation, would you still go through with it?

no, maybe only if the desicion is taken 100% rationaly not emotionaly or in a mental condition, in wich case the person is not qualified to take that desicion.

The problem with the example is that it is too hypothetical. There's no way I could ever know that for sure.
But let's say I did. Then I still might, and I might not. It depends on the weight I'm carrying.
And of course it has consequences. But what others do because I killed myself, can't be my responsibility. What matters is that I have a right to kill myself, and I can't be held accountable if others follow my example.

I have to comment on how hilariously appropriate the OP's avatar is.

As for suicide, it is preferable that the person is helped out of their depression and doesn't kill themselves, but then again I'm a nut for human kindness. I do support euthanasia if the person is guaranteed to suffer more greatly otherwise, however.

If you don't mind me asking... why drowning? I mean... jeez that's got to be one of the worst ways to go out.
Actually, I heard one theory that the afterlife experience might just be a hallucination that occurs when the brain degrades or deteorates at the rate of the golden ratio. Theoretically it could create an expansive hallucination that could seem to last for an eternity if not a very long time.

So drowning, bleeding to death, etc... would be ideal ways to go if you bought into that theory.
I think I've thought of something like that before, but I didn't know that was an actual scientific theory.

But if that isn't true, drowning would be one of the last ways I'd want to die. I'll take in my sleep or in the center of a nuclear explosion, thank you.

Edit: Wow, I didn't realize how old this thread is.
