Looking through release dates and such I realized there is almost nothing coming out this summer. I should say the next few months just in case it isn't summer where you are. I know Starcraft II is coming (with a vengeance), but everything else seems to have been pushed back. With that said, what are my fellow escapists planning on doing over the next few months to pass the time until fall releases? Anyone have any really sweet vacations planned?

I myself will probably bury myself in Starcraft II for most of the summer.

Nah, I'm not the vacation type. I'd much rather be alone, teach myself a new program or something, and relax.

Nice avatar btw

Summer usually is a time of drought in the gaming world, a few releases but otherwise, not much. I use this time to my advantage, its usually (I use the word usually loosely living in the UK) nice weather and this means barbecues with a few cold drinks with those closest to me. With the World Cup rapidly approaching this will also take up hours upon hours of time :). In the last waking days of Summer, aka the August bank holiday I'll be spending it at Leeds festival with all my friends celebrating leaving 6th form and saying our final farewells before everyone goes to uni.

Thanks and your dancing bot is cool too. I always seem to start off the summer with aspirations to better myself in some way with my free time, but I never get around to it.

I was thinking about the drought, but I don't remember a time when I didn't have something to play over the summer. Though now that I'm much older and can get games when they come out it's a bit more noticeable. I miss being a kid and playing whatever. Now that I have to buy all of my own crap I'm very picky on what I play. Interestingly enough, there aren't really that many good movies to look forward to this summer either. The Last Air Bender is the only one I can think of. Here in the states the only summer holiday is the 4th of July and once you're older it looses most of its appeal as well. I wish we had festivals and fun stuff to do. I guess we could if there was a good way to profit off em (DAMN YOU CAPITALISM!).

It's always the same at this time of year (their saving everything for the holiday season) that said Xbox will be doing it's summer arcade thing again and there have been some good games the past two times they've done. As to my plans I will have (hopefully) graduated so I'll be job hunting.

Job hunting sucks! Good luck on that. It seems really hard to get a job these days. With my degree I can't get hired because I'm over qualified, but I don't have enough experience to get a job with my degree. I'm glad I have made graduate assistantship!

I've been on the escapist for a while and I still don't know how to do multiple quotes. Can someone explain that to me, please?

I think they're trying to hint that maybe we ought to go outside. Fuck them. Fuck them and their outdoors. I'll stay home and get drunk as all hell this summer!

Well, no. In fairness, I am also going to be down the pub a lot, getting drunk as all hell and watching the World Cup.

Exactly, World Cup summers mean pubs and either delirious joy or unfathomable sadness.

I doubt I will be picking up any new games over the summer. If anything I will explore old games that I never finished/never played for very long. Normally during the summer I toss in Mario RPG and beat it. Only takes about a week if I pace it right though. :(

I will be working and taking a class this summer wooo!

Most likely I will be hanging out with friends, and I believe we are planning on having some lan parties this summer which will probably be awesome. At the end of summer in August I know my family is taking a vacation to Maui which is going to be awesome.

I'm started C++ this summer. Granted, it's gonna be hard, but I welcome the challenge and it will keep me occupied for a lot of time.

Also, I'm buying Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, and hopefully Transformers: War for Cybertron if It's good. So I'll be fine.

I'll probably just be working alot, like the rest of the year. I don't have many games I'm looking forward to right now anyway.

Weell my best friend invites me and a couple other people up to his lakeside cottage and during the summer it gets really nice for wakeboarding and waterskiing. Get a nice tan(or burn :p), drink beer and go waterskiing. Then after a week we go back to civilization and we either go to my house or his house and then back up to the cottage after 2 days of supply gathering and stuff like that. That and playing videogames, one of those two days are straight videogames.
