While neither of these songs ranks as my favorite, for a couple of years there in the 80s, they stood as bookends for the beginning and the end of the summer.

It usually aired on the radio during the last month of school (June) and it signaled the beginning of the summer festivities:

This song would air throughout the summer, but, for some reason, I would never really hear it until late in august.

P.S., how do you get the video to embed with the frame? Can't seem to make it work in the spoiler code.--thanks for Jonluw for helping with the embed code.

bah! what is it with the romancisation of summer? (I'm freezing right now since its winter)

to me..summer means (or used to mean)

heat, heat and more heat
family vactions to some little beach place
heat
dry wasteland like conditions
stress as its harvest time and the parents were stressing out or whatever
christmas..yay
flies..lots of flies
and heat
You should try living somewhere where summer isn't so warm as to be uncomfortable, and warm weather in itself is such a rarity that you treasure every day of sunlight with all of your heart.
Then you'll probably understand the romantisation of summer.

Right now, it's overcast and raining a little bit here.

Do you mean like this?
Just write
Code:

(in the case of the first video.)

I misinterpreted your post then, so apologies for that. Also, you're of course free to dislike whatever you want and for the record, I don't think the music you posted is shit, it was merely an example. I guess I just don't see the need to go around and proclaiming music I don't particurlarly like to be shit, I just choose not to listen to it.

Why so many people listen to that kind of music in the summer, I can't really answer. Personally, it's not just for summer time, I listen to electronic music all year round. I can't really say anything else than it makes me happy and that it's had a big impact on my life, which is why I listen to it.

As for the last paragraph, despite having read numerous of your posts, I haven't picked that up, but I'll try and keep that in mind for the future.

That's okay.

I don't normally either, but when the music you don't like is all around you, the urge sort of becomes overwhelming.

I'm not surprised you haven't picked it up.
It's been a problem in the past.
My preferred humor delivery method is deadpan. In real life, it doesn't come across well since I have a rather stoic appearance.
And on the internet, it doesn't come across well because it's text, so deadpan just doesn't work.
And since this is the internet, any attempts at hyperbole and exaggeration are taken dead serious, because people are used to dealing with idiots.

It's my curse.
