So, I was talking to a friend today and he gave me a very accurate definition of summer.

Summer: noun - A time and place where you and your retarded as hell friends cause mayhem and destruction and somehow manage to avoid the cops.
So, escapist, does this seem to be about right? And for discussion, how do you plan to spend your summer?

Actually thats way off for me.

I'm going to spend the summer going to class, getting a tan, drawing and hopefully working. I'm so boring *sobs gently*

That's similar to how mine were when I was younger. These days it's either work all the time, or I spend my free days being mad that it's so hot out, and that I don't live somewhere where it's not above 60 degrees out at any point in the year.

My summer will, if it goes how my dad wants, have me doing back breaking work for my first ever paycheque. But hey, at least he can't take the money!

(plus I can't get a job if I can't find my national insurance number ;))

I plan to get a job this summer. Usually I just spend time doing worthless shit but I'm going to start doing something useful and productive.

Not close to mine. Summer for me is where you continually find ways to do as little as possible while still doing something healthy.

I plan to spend my summer partying, as this is my last before college.
And I'll be there with him! *stands hands on hips while cape flutters behind him*

Mine is more along the lines of "Work so I have money for college, occasionally go jump off stuff into a river/swim/camp."

My summer will be spent rocking backwards and forwards worrying that I haven't got the grades to get into uni, hanging about with friends, going out drinking with friends (for I shall finally be old enough to legally buy alcohol! Hurrah!) and playing, finishing and replaying the games I want to.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot my friend is having a week long party. So that should be fun!

Sorry but nope.

Summer: A time when my workload triples and I don't see the light of day and develop stockholm syndrome with my co-workers for my boss from being held captive for so long.

i well spend the summer the exact same way i spent the winter. hiding in a dark damp room with a lot of snacks, drowning in my failing self esteem, playing video games. and watching videos only i think are funny.

There, there. Don't cry.

OT: That definition does not fit me. First off, I'd need to have some friends that live near me.
Second, I have no idea how I'll spend my summer except I'll at least be playing video games.

Summer: The one season where every creature that flies just keeps coming back to pester you, no matter how many times you swat it away and shout "fuck off".

I hate summer. Lots.

"summer- That time when you look out the office window with envy at the schoolkids with 12 weeks holiday".

Not to be confused with

"Winter- that time when you look out the office window and laugh at the schoolkids running for the bus in the rain".

hahah, i like that deffinition. i hate the weather in summer, but i love the stuff that ends up happening just because its mostly dossing and breaking stuff, when really, most of us should be working.
i would be looking forward to summer, if i hadn't just been diagnosed with quite a bad case of glandular fever ¬¬
