I was considering the concept of guest characters the other day, specifically fighting games. Certain titles, such as the Soul Calibur franchise, has had different guests specific to individual consoles. Link, Heihachi, Spawn, Ezio, Kratos, multiple entries from Star Wars, and even Lloyd Irving in the horrible spinoff game I quickly traded in. An impressive roster to be sure. Bit of a pity that almost all of them were on different installments and versions, never to face each other directly...
Hey, that sounds like a great idea! What if there was a special fighting game that took all the guest characters from various fighting games, and ONLY guest characters, so they could duke it out! Soul Calibur already has a great roster, and there's also Freddy Krueger from Mortal Kombat (where Kratos also guested in), and... nothing else comes to my head, but there ought to be tons of others out there!
What do you guys think? It's a hypothetical concept, to be sure, but do you think such a concept would or could work?
Keep in mind that the various characters have to be guests in and of their own right to be included in the roster. Pure crossover games like MvC, MK vs DC, and Smash Bros don't count.
