Hey all, I'm a huge fan of the Super Robot Wars franchise and am just curious as to whever or not theres some escapists here that're also fans.
For those who don't know, the Super Robot Wars series is a series of strategy games made in Japan by a company called Banpresto. They've been released on multiple systems from the original Gameboy back in 1991 until most recently on the PSP this year, with an upcoming game for the PS3.
The games feature characters and robots from various mecha animes and you utilise them in fighting enemies and clear missions, the gameplay is very similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea to give some examples.
I first heard about the series some years back when just browsing youtube for some Gundam attacks and found clips from one of the games, it wasen't until last year that I was finally able to play the series and I absolutely love it. Its entirely in Japanese but theres plenty of helpful guides to help you with the menus on the net. Ultimately, not really understanding the written text isn't too much of an issue as the missions mostly follow events from the animes that are featured, so if you're familiar with them its no real problem.
Initially I was only interested in the games because of them featuring the Gundam series' but since them have grown to love all of the other series shown and thusly turned me into an even bigger mecha fan
