Megaman and Protoman. I wouldn't mind seeing Bass or Roll. They'd all fit extremely well in SSB, but I imagine Capcom wants to keep that IP locked up tight so they can continue to do absolutely nothing with it.
All dat potential energy. Just gotta let it build up. Then they'll release another Battle Network game.

OT: Megaman, Sora/Riku/King Mickey (Pick one, don't care they're all awesome), Chell (along with a Portal 2 themed stage with GLaDOS and Wheatley doing something in the background), Altair maybe? He'd never get in, but it's nice to dream. ISAAC AND FELIX FROM GOLDEN SUN.

Also, like said before: A WORKING ONLINE MULTIPLAYER.

A Fire Emblem character that does not use a sword. Hector, Micaia, or Ephraim, in particular would offer a diffrent play style.

I am not sure where Professor Layton's ownership lays, but it would be cool to see him. Even as just a assist.

I do hope Capcom will make a deal of some sorts. Leon from RE4, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu and Megaman would be awesome additions.

I also want Mewtwo back, didn't like Lucario much. Or maybe they could just replace him with a different pokemon, maybe Gensect or something.
Same. Mewtwo was a super legendary pokemon from the original and felt more like a complete character since there was only one, he had a distinct personality and he could actually speak (sorta). Lucario? He's number 448, whoop dee doo.

Geno from Super Mario RPG (shutup, let me have this lol)
Wart from Super Mario Brothers 2
Waluigi (dunno why, just always liked him)
Paper Mario (like what Dr.Mario was but...Paper Mario)
Bring Mewtwo back
Possibly add Zoroark
At least one Animal Crossing character (K.K. hittin' folks with his guitar...)
Yarn Kirby (would clearly have a different play style from regular Kirby, I'd like to see it)
Upgrade Pokemon Trainer to use the Gen 5 starters (Oshawatt, Servine and Emboar?)
Maybe Miis could play somehow.
Travis Touchdown...

Um...I guess that's all I've got for now.

Oh, and of course add a lot more assist characters and Pokemon to the Pokeballs.

I like the ideas of adding Geno, Paper Mario (maybe able to use side characters for assists) and Travis Touchdown (who I previously would have said would be a ridiculously outlandish choice, but after the addition of Snake I just dunno anymore). Yarn Kirby would be interesting, but not something I'd really be excited for.

The only one I can think of (excluding what everyone above me had said) is that there should be less moving stages and more non moving stages but that's just my preference. I want to kick their ass not moving along the stage being afraid of loosing my ground and fall or got knock out to the sides.

Better online multiplayer.

I can guarantee that if Brawl's online component was more then a tacked on 2 minute match, I'd still be playing it today.

No tripping. Tripping was the stupidest thing ever.

No Final Smashes. They wouldn't be so bad, but some characters *cough*Sonic&StarFox*cough* have Final Smashes which are just so much better than any other character's.

Amaterasu and Viewtiful Joe :D
OK, so 2 minute match with no adjustments? Terrible

Tripping? Way to introduce luck even while not using items.

Final smashes, fun for the first few matches and cool to test out, but not something I thought added anything good to the game.

Thank you for pointing out what I wanted to point out so I didn't have to be creative and write it myself.

Other than that I just want to be like either Brawl or Melee. I've had great fun with those, why change what works?

Get rid of tripping. Why was that even added?

Characters I would like to see:

1) More (varied) Fire Emblem characters. Ephraim would be a beast. I bet any of the mages would be pretty cool. Basically add someone that doesn't exclusively use a sword.

2) Majora's Mask Link. Treat him like Pokemon trainer and allow him to cycle between the Deku, Goron, and Zora masks. Fierce Deity could be the final smash.

3) Pokemon Trainer: Generation III starters.

4) Banjo & Kazooie (I know this is impossible)

I'd also throw in that the physics need to be more like they were in Melee.

Brawl was far too floaty and not quite quick enough.

Yeah, I have to agree with that too, I always preferred Melee over Brawl for physics. However it's not a dealbreaker if we get Brawl physics, just a huge plus if we get Melee physics... which sadly isn't likely to happen... :(

I'd love to see a Link in the style of Pokemon Trainer. He could switch to Deku Link, Zora Link, and Goron Link. Each having a different move set. His final smash would have him transform into Fierce Diety Link.

Also what is this "tripping" everyone keeps talking about? I've played Brawl for a while and I don't think I've experienced something like that.

In Brawl you'd randomly trip and fall, leaving yourself open. The developers thought random pratfalls were a good thing for some unknowable reason. They are not. I've lost plenty of matches because of it.

-For the love of God, get rid of tripping, or give the option to turn it off, period.
I hated wavedashing too, but just fix the programming so dash-dancing doesn't work without fucking up jukes entirely.

-Expanded Character variants.
Let players equip their characters with abilities in such a way that they can alter their moveset slightly. This can cut down on the clone characters, or use them as alternate models.
There really is no reason to have three members of Team StarFur with such similar movesets.

-Expanded Map Creator
This was the best part of Brawl, IMO. I played my own maps far more often than the stock maps.
(mostly since they lacked the built-in bullshit "balancing mechanism" that punishes the player in the lead)

-Odd Pokemon Out:
Keep Lucario. His moveset was one of the only bright spots in Brawl, IMO. Bring back Mewtwo.
I'm guessing that Zoroark is going to be the next one in line, based on trends from the movies.

None of the new characters I'd want are really in reach, apart from the Fire Emblem and Golden Sun characters, so I won't waste time on wishlists nobody reads.

It's not unknown at all.
It was Sakurai's method of punishing players who relied on Wavedashing in Melee.

I'm about to tell you something, ready?: Only Nintendo-owned characters can make an appearance.

I know you're about to yell Snake and Sonic at me, but Nintendo owns the rights to Twin Snakes as well as a certain amount of Sonic.

I think only Capcom characters are the only third party characters that have been announced as a possibility.
That's a shame, I just figured that since TWEWY was on a Nintendo system they could have made an appearance. Oh well.
Nintendo only gave that game their seal of approval (permission to produce it). They have no ownership. So basically, if it's not Nintendo owned in some, way, shape, or form it's not showing up without an announced deal with the publisher. In this case, Nintendo and Sora Ltd would have to make quiiiite a deal with Square-Enix for a character who really doesn't fit in and would break the immersion. Sorry =\
How does that work then? Since when has Nintendo owned any of Sonic or Snake? Metal Gear games have nearly always been primarily PS games and Sonic has always been Multi-Platform.

You could say that Sony owns part of Metal Gear, but it doesn't.

Make Character unlocking more interesting like it was in melee instead of just "play subspace emissary" and bring back those little title things you get after each fight that were in the first 2, y'know what I'm talkin' about right?

A better Stage Builder, the one in brawl was nice but a lot more could be done with it
3 and 4 player Events
DLC characters, stages,events,music,stage builder parts,etc

Unlockable debug mode(I Like messing around in Debug modes alright?)

For First Party Characters I'd like to see vaati and/or Ghirahim as playable characters along with Galacta Knight, Marx and Magolor and the Bandanna waddle dee from the kirby games. Mii's in the form of customisable characters Oh and Groose from skyward sword(a man can dream cant he?!)

For third Party Characters I'd like so see Zero, Protoman and Mega man Preferably Classic, or X. Geno would be an interesting addition. I'd like to see sonic and snake keep their spots on the roster. And The knights from Spiral Knights how cool would that be?
Edit: Oh and Bomberman

Sorry I didn't make that clear, I will try and find a source if I can, but Sakurai basically said that he likes the idea of players training their fighters on the 3DS version, and then transferring them to the Wii U to play with them on the big screen.

Nintendo owns a certain percentage of SEGA, enough where they have a deal for one Sonic game on one of their systems every year. All true. Google it.

As for MGS: TS, Nintendo was a co-publisher in that. Thus, they did own some rights. Sony has no rights with Snake as they've never been a publishing partner. Plus, Sakurai and Kojima have always been bros.

For the most part, I really just want to see character based expansions. I love it for these guys to make it into the next games:

______ Belmont
Bimmy/Jimmy
Bomberman
Ganon (piggy form)
Master Higgins
Megaman
Mii
Missingno.
Mr. Dream
Paper Mario
Pokemon Trainer (Johto, Sinnoh, Hoenn and, Unova trainers)
Sparkster
Tatanga
Tingle
Wart
Dread, Karate, Ninja and/or Sumo Kong

If Nintendo can get Bimmy and Jimmy Lee then they may also get Square-Enix to let them use characters like Geno, Ultros, etc. If they can get any of the Konami characters that would be great too. I don't see them getting any Rare characters but I would still love to see the Battletoads, Banjo and, Kazooie in a SSB title. The only way I see Mega Man making it on a Smash Bros game would be as a 'Fuck You' from Inafune to Capcom.

I actually did think of something I'd love to see in the next Smash Bros:

Retro Modes. Wherein you use original sprites for the characters who are old enough to have them and 'new' 8-bit sprites for the characters who didn't have them. I say retro modes because if they can pull off an 8-bit mode then it's also possible for a 16-bit mode as well. Think along these lines:

If it came at the cost of the overall roaster then no but if it came at the cost of the retro-demos then yes.
