First direct sequel?Noelveiga said:Well, DLC doesn't make as much money as full releases, but it doesn't cost as much to make, either. It's about nickel-and-diming you to death.Straying Bullet said:I probaly used the wrong choice of words there.
Will they stop making endless of Street Fighter games where you don't even know which one is which? Yes, for me, that's not milking out a franchise anymore.
Will they bring out DLC, obviously stated above, constantly? Yes. But however, I do not expect it to make big bucks like it would with every game they pushed out. DLC is for me that's minor, after playing the game you probaly would move on. That's not grand-scale milking, that's just getting some tiny-ittle bits for the DLC. Correct me if I am wrong tho'.
To me, 10 new characters and gameplay tweaks almost put Super IV on the level of a full sequel (most Street Fighter Alpha numbered games had less new material than this), while the stupid, stupid costume packs in Street Fighter IV were heavy duty milking, giving you next to nothing for almost 15 bucks.
I'm curious about your shot at Nintendo earlier, though. How is Nintendo "milking" their franchises? Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the first straight up sequel to a Mario game since Super Mario Bros. 3 and there have been a grand total of 2 Zeldas and 3 Metroids in the last two generations of consoles.
To put it in perspective, there have been 5 Halo games and 6 Call of Duty games in the same period.

Yes because Mario Party, Mario Tennis, etc. are totally all platformer titles. No, no they aren't. They're just using established characters in other settings and gametypes. Not milking. Saying those are franchise milking is like saying Super Smash Bros. is milking all of Nintendo's franchises which is just silly.Onyx Oblivion said:Metroid Fusion. Zero Mission. Metroid NES. Not milked.
Mario Party and spinoffs. YES. Milking.
DAMMIT WHAT IS THIS CALUMON THING!??!?! YOUR DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!Catkid906 said:In other news... Nintendo has already announced plans for another new DS, the 3DSi XL!
Calumon: Got Milk? ; )
The FRANCHISE is going to continue, as even clearly stated in the article. SF IV will not have any more expansions is all. Though, expect an SF V or something similar in the future.Straying Bullet said:Aha, finally allowing a franchise to end peacefully without the constant corperate milking. COUGH@Nintendo.
Capcom hash raized it's bonus pointz with moi. Up +14
Oh man, I lol'd at this.Tom Goldman said:Were you worried that Capcom would eventually be turning Street Fighter IV into Ultra Hyper Super Street Fighter IV Turbo: Platinum Champions - Akuma Friends Edition
Street Fighter was too much of a popular series. I mean yes, it's very popular now, but nowhere near the level it was when street fighter II was around. Fighting games have become a lot more niche since those times.Sir Kemper said:You sure this is true? I mean this is like, I dunno, if you stopped milking a cow that lactated money and gold bricks.
StreetFighter's just too much of a popular series not to milk.
From what I've been seeing, he's still really good but his biggest damage dealing combo (tiger uppercut fadc forward roundhouse into ultra for 70% damage) has been nerfed to about a half of what it did before. His tiger uppercuts only do about 100 damage unless you power them up manually and his health is also down by a bit.bjj hero said:Heres guessing Sagat is still over powered...
