We've all imagined what it would be like to be a superhero, no question. But I recently thought of something that, to my knowledge, not a whole lot of people thought of. So you've recently fallen into chemical/nuclear waste and have gotten super powers. Who do you tell? To keep it uncomplicated let's make it one person. Who would you tell? I mean tell in the sense of: "Dude, I've totally got super powers!" Not like: "Help me through this, I don't know what to do." No one can tell you how to be a superhero. Don't get me wrong, it is sort of an intimate choice. I mean. you are potentially putting that person's life in danger. And you have to know that they can keep the darn secret. For me it would probably be one of my most honest friends. Someone who can keep a secret or acknowledge that they can't before I tell them. With those thoughts in mind, tell me what you think.

EDIT: The powers don't matter. I mean if you were dead and came back as a ghost, what would be the point of protecting your identity if somebody could easily supply your corpse?

I wouldn't tell anyone I know in real life. Not close enough to any of them, and I wouldn't want to put anyone else's lives in danger. Plus, no one I know could keep a secret like that.

I wouldn't tell them unless I get the ability to shapeshift in exactly the way I have it pictured in my mind. I would create real life nightmare fuel in front of their eyes...

Yeah I wouldn't tell anyone. Even if they were good people, they'd probably report it to 'help me' then I'm on a Government dissection table thinking 'damn shoulda kept my mount shut'

Definitely not tell my parents...lol, they'd try to make me take surgeries to change me back.

Probably my best friend or something. You know, the cliche choice.

Partner? Honestly, I think he'd work it out sooner or later anyway.

Then I'd do my best to give him the same too.

It really depends on the extent of my powers. Something like Spiderman's I'd probably not tell anyone.

Something like Superman/Nate Grey's powers I'd tell the President of the United States (which is funny because I'm Australian), if I can make it complicated I'd throw in the Australian and English Prime ministers.

But I'd basically sneak/teleport/mind control my way secretly to his office, give a short display of powers and tell him to set up a black OPs support team of analysts, scientists, PR people etc.

With a costume designed, huge salary and technology to keep me updated with international disasters. Then I'd be a super hero, I'd save planes, salvage oil tankers, extinguish fires and all sorts of hero stuff.

I'd use a massive PR machine to encourage recycling, save rainforests, help orphans etc. I'd also make Nuclear Power more palatable by throwing the waste into the sun.

Huh I kind of went off on a non OP related tangent there. Basically I'd tell whoever could give me an efficient support system to be a hero with. But at the same time I'd keep the extent of my powers hidden, like if I had telekinesis and telepathy I wouldn't reveal the latter. Or I'd pretend I had certain limits to my speed etc. Basically having an ace in the hole for if I ever need to fix a corrupt regime.

It really depends on my powers.
Who says I want to be a super hero ? Maybe I just want to have fun with them. Just because I an do something docent mean I will or should, "can you squeeze a guns trigger ?" " REELY !, wow you need to be a police officer."

But to answer your question nobody, call me paranoid but I couldn't trust anybody with that secret.

See, I agree. It would depend on my powers. If, in fact, I have two dirty great wings coming out of my back, well... there's no real way of hiding that. If it's flight or invisibility (or something similiarly non-threatening or elementally based), then yay, cheap flights and I'd probably tell my mum and my best friend. Well, definitely my best friend. My mother's a bit of a chatterbox.

If it was something like superstrength, I would inform the authorities and remind them of my civil liberties and right to exercise them. I would like to help in times of need, but I expect to have my own life. I'd probably sign up as a volunteer SAS or something.

But yeah, if it was a part of me, then those closest to me deserve the chance to know about it and make their own minds up about it.

You make a good point about the flight thing .
Id like to change my answer. I would tell somebody if it was a non threatening or just plain piratical super power , probably by best friend but it would take a while.

Tell my good friend Jesus Christ. Either that or someone that would get me to do all the stunts in movies.

No wait they all suck. My final decision is... Hugh Hefner.
