Anything with a new interface made to look high tech and unique rather than being boring and generic and being easy to use.
I'll second this. I long for the days of 6 hour DnD sessions fueled by pizza and beers.....sadly, they are behind me now.Quazimofo said:To clarify, Roll20 is a virtual tabletop with a variety of tools to allow people to play RPGs like D&D online. It's by no means a bad service, but quite frankly there's nothing like being in the same room with a good group and having a jolly good time.
You are mistaking introverted for anti-social. I'm an introvert but what that means is that, while I do enjoy time alone and I don't have numerous 'friends' like you extroverts, I have a few friends who I deeply enjoy having deep conversations with. None of that horrible small talk.SFMB said:This. So. Much.
I think the smart phones are actually making us more stupid and introverted. Social interaction is dying with people staring at their phones all the time.
I rue the day I was forced to change my good old Nokia with buttons and such into a smart phone.
This, so much this. While I do enjoy the odd CGI, it has just gone too far.Casual Shinji said:I'd go one step further and say bring back hand painted cells.Fox12 said:I hate

I HATE CGI and 3d animation.
As soon as what little traditional animation was left went digital, it lost a lot of its warmth and texture. Now we have anime that looks flat and sterile.
I have to agree with you here. We are now in a time where if CGI can be used, CGI will be used. In the case of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit links that you posted, it is pretty easy to spot that the orcs in The Hobbit are CG whereas those in the Lord of the Rings are makeup, and as a result, the orcs in the Lord of the Rings look a lot more threatening and rough, whereas in the Hobbit they too look clean and look like a cartoon. I understand that practical effects cannot be used for everything, sure, it may me difficult to make a dragon fly over a city, or have a fight scene two giant robots in a populated city, but CGI ages pretty badly, and practical effects done right never gets old. Hell, I watched Aliens yesterday, and if the film was made today, I can pretty much guarantee that everything but the colonial marines, Ripley and Newt would have been CG. It is also really sad when you watch a 'behind the scenes' special of the film, and it is the actors in costume on a green set, covered in green boxes, with a guy running around in a MoCap suit.Fox12 said:I hate

I HATE CGI and 3d animation. They aren't necessarily bad in themselves, but I always found that practical effects looked more realistic.
It's not uncommon for the most fiercely devoted fans to become the fiercest detractors once their beloved artist/company/whatever (all but inevitably) disappoints them, and they seldom realize that replacing blind fanboyism with blind hatred is little more than overcompensation under the guise of "wisening up".Twinrehz said:I valiantly defended the N64 and the Gamecube, on forums and in school, even though they were inferior to PS1 and 2 in terms of games. And how does Nintendo reward my loyalty? Fucking motion controls. I could not wrap my head around how waving that thing around would be even remotely fun, as opposed to twiddling my thumbs on a gamepad. I never wanted a Wii.
I abandoned Nintendo, and even console gaming for several years, until I got an X360 as birthday present. Ever since then I've not held sides, I believe that all sides (except Nintendo) has its merits and good games,
I do tend to agree but there's a kind of uncanny valley effect here. I do most of my computing using a succession of cheap second hand laptops because I'm a sysadmin and tend to offload processor intensive tasks to one of our servers. These days I look for a good keyboard, a trackpoint, resilient hardware and a low price. When I'm away from the office it does everything I need it to do in good time, in fact the last upgrade I bought wasn't necessary as I've seen no speed increase over my older machine.PoolCleaningRobot said:Obviously, advanced users will want and need more, but most people aren't that advanced
As an introvert this one very much annoys me too.Dying_Jester said:I'm not striking at you, it just greatly annoys me when someone mixes up the two and instead sees introverts as some sort of social disorder or something.
I would not go so far as to say I hate CGI animations themselves, but I do sincerely hate their general overuse. And your examples where great to illustrate that point.Fox12 said:I hate

Maybe I'm just denying my hatred, but I wouldn't say I hate Nintendo. I get a bit riled up when thinking about it, because I had a lot of fun with the Nintendo consoles. I did feel betrayed, but the feeling of disappointment didn't last, very quickly I just didn't care much any more. I don't know why it didn't occur to me at the time that I could just switch sides, and buy one of the other consoles. Such is life, I guess.Uriel_Hayabusa said:-snip-
