I've read threads asking what super powers you'd like to have so this is a completely unoriginal topic. Sorry!

But my question is: If you discovered you had super powers, what is the FIRST thing you'd do. Like in the experimental/learning phase.

For example, if you could fly, how would you test its limits, what would you do, where would you fly?

I live near a river, which I walk past every day on the way to work. The building I work in overlooks it. One day, I just thought it'd be cool if I had superspeed, so that i could leave for work seconds/mins before the start of my shift. Then I thought, could i run on water? Wouldn't that be cooler? So yeah, the first thing i'd do with that power is see if I could run on water.

Your ideas?

i'd see how high i can fly, then freefall for a bit and stop myself way before i hit the ground, just to be safe >_>
then probs relax on the roof and make people wonder how i got up there :p

Well, if I had flight I'd probally find a quiet spot and fly around for a bit, I f I had super speed I'd find a wide open area somewhere with no people and see how fast I could move ect.

I wouldn't become a super hero or anything. Comic books have taught me that they generally cause more problems than they solve. On the other thing they've taught me that with great power, comes great responsability (wise words), so I honestly don't know.

Since the superpower I really want is to able to breathe underwater, the first thing is spend the entire day in the pool. (I have a saltwater pool, so no chlorine :D)

Then I'd sign up for advanced swim classes, lol. I'm really slow in the water.

O would figure out the best way to kill people with my power, then hunt down my childhood enemies. See if they can survive my ability to talk with fish anger! Or possibly my biscuit levitation wrath! Cookie for reference

My power would be eithe to teleport, have amazing reflexes or a healing factor so:

Would see how far i can teleport

Keep speeding up music till I find the same speed that I would listen to as normal

Do that magic trick that requires omeone to saw me in half...that would mess up a 10-year old's party

Well I have often spent time in work wondering how super powers could help in everyday mundane tasks, for example in the shop I work in we are constanly moving large amounts of curtains around from one shelf to the other in a vain effort to 'merchandise the displys' so I quite like the idea of being plastico, like magneto only master of plastics, just think how many everyday products have plastic in them

I'd spent a little time figuring out how they work, so I don't end up accidentally killing myself.

Once that's done, I would then decide on the best method of obtaining money and/or power by means of my powers, and immediately put my plan into action.

I'd probably get a grasp on them, and then become a criminal... I mean, this is like getting a watch that stops time right before your final exam, how could you not possibly cheat?

Control of time, gravity, or fire, yes fire is good (yes I am a pyro, shut up) though teleportation would be pretty cool, anyway, I'd get a grip on them so I don't die, test em a bit, then just for kicks I'd get back at certain people

I've always tought that the ability to absorb energy and reuse it would make a good superpower (then Infamous stole my idea...) Anyway, I'd just try them out, see what I could do, probably in a secluded area first, then decide whether to use it for the greater good, or for my own ends.

I'd try to get an understanding of how they work, so that I am better able to use them without turning myself inside-out.

But given a choice of powers, I'd have to go with...

The Darkness.

first of all, my compliments go to the topic.

god i'd love to be able to teleport, but trying to get to grips with it at first would be absolutely terrifying. getting stuck in a wall is not a pleasant thought. i'd probably try very basic teleports in open areas to begin with, then bump up the difficulty level.

once i'd got the hang of it i blatantly wouldn't use it for "noble" purposes.

I always wanted telekinesis so if I got it I would try to win a game of tetris without hands.

Mind effecting illusions would be tricky. I mean, hologram style illusions would be easy to play around with. Mind illusions would either require another person or a very vivid imagination. Though you get more options with that power - you can go beyond just visual and auditory senses. Touch, scent, taste.

Causing pain would be one of the most useful combat tricks of a mentalist illusionist. It'd be difficult finding volunteers for practice - and you wouldn't want to use an ability in combat untested. Either find some strange friends, or you've got an ability that's pretty damn immoral to practice.

All the other senses would be pretty cool to practice at parties, though.
