"BURN FIRE, BURN IT ALL" terrible shouted echoing through the Forrest as he fired jets of flame in all directions lighting everything in his path ablaze the flames spread not just forwards but sideways too if terrible continued like this the whole Forrest would be up in smoke.

"hmmmm this is a good place to have a barbecue" terrible laughed as he continued spewing pillars of flame at anything that crossed his path bearing ever closer to whoever he was following.

Alexander let out a roar, hoping to attract the attention of whatever was nearby "COME AND FACE ME YOU COWARDS, MAYBE YOU CAN GIVE ME A REAL FIGHT!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, if nothing else maybe the two evil supers could be caught by each other, Alex briefly contemplated if he would make good barbeque, he picked up a couple rocks and thought, planning with what little time he had.

Leaves and sticks crunched in a ceaseless rhythm under Ryan's feet as he ran, leading the others farther into the forest. Sweat was already beading on his brow and running down his chest and neck. His body wasn't used to this kind of thing.

The red glow of the fire behind them was blocked for a few minutes as they crested a hill and descended the other side, sprinting across the valley and then climbing the next hill, making a b-line away from the fire and the pursuer. He felt a slight pang of guilt for leaving Alex to stall Terrible alone, but it was the cat-man's choice. Ryan wasn't about to leave Amy's side, not unless it meant saving her life. If it came to that, he would knock her over the head and have Damien carry her out, so that she couldn't be stubborn about it and stay.

As they crested the second hill he glanced back briefly, to see how fast the fire was spreading. To his alarm, he saw the flames licking at the trees on top of the previous hill, the one they had just crossed minutes ago. "We've gotta move faster, the fire's gaining on us!" he yelled as they doubled the pace, plunging down the next slope. Rocks and loose dirt slid underneath them, almost causing a few of them to fall. They ran on though, not stopping even for a small brook, which they simply leaped over with Damien's help. Then it was up and over the next hill.

He didn't look back this time, simply running up over the crest and down the other side. The slope coming up looked much steeper and longer this time, however, and his eyes darted around as they descended, searching the gloom for an alternate route. The direction they were going at the moment was ideal as far as getting away from the city, the fire, and Terrible, but these hills would get pretty unbearable pretty quick. It seemed to be the only option, though, and he wasn't about to slow down and think about it. So it was across the valley and up the other side, once again.

"Kris, any ideas?" he wheezed as they began their climb. "This isn't gonna work, these hills are brutal." Ryan hated to suggest that Damien or Kris use their powers to fly them over the hills, since they were both already exhausted from the "air cruise", but if it came down to it, that might be the only thing that could get them away fast enough. He just didn't like the idea of getting caught by Terrible and being the only one in their group strong enough to fight.

 

[Xero Scythe]

Damien smiled. "I got an idea!" He turned to Cathy and said. "Hold tight now." He rolled his neck and placed his hands by his sides. He took a giant step forward while pushing forward with both his hands. A tunnel appeared within the hill leading down. "Guys, go in! If we go through here, the fire can't catch us, and I'll just close it up behind us, so no-one else can catch us. This is how I made the coliseum, so i know what I'm doing."

 

[Nukey]

"I highly doubt a simple mortal such as yourself can take on a god. But then again you seemed to prove Ray wrong, lets see if I'm incorrect as well." Dark Mist said with a hideous grin as it walked out of thick brush towards Alex, it's hands clapping as he drew closer. The center eye pulsed bright red, as it shifted through Alexanders mind.

"Come get me you fucking animal." Dark Mist whispered over the telepathic link, his voice seemed to hiss inside the man's mind.

 

[Aqualung]

Amy pursed her lips, staring down into the dark cavern. At least this way, they could run straight through the hills... but to what extent? Hopefully, she would be more able to defend Damien should Terrible catch them.

Squeezing Ryan's hand tightly, she tugged him into the tunnel. As the darkness surrounded them, she raised her other hand, curling her fingers into a tight fist. Her hand began to glow, a light bobbing up and down in the air as she ran. She glanced over her shoulder to Damien, and caught the sight of the blazing fire behind his head.

Oh God, I hope Alex is alright...

Alex turned "Hrmm, I assume you're some sort of higher Demon? You vould probably kill me seeing as ze shadows are your element...might I suggest a little vaiting period to face much more of a challenge? Ray must have memories of ze vone vith command over ze elements, "terrible" vas his name, I sink, think about it:lightning,water,wind,earth, possibly even light. all I can do is grow big and get angry." He said, speaking thoughtfully and surpisingly calmly. "And if you're still not satisfied, use zose telepathic abilities to send me a challenge and ve'll find a place to meet." he added, grinning a bit.

A small smirk appeared on Dark Mist's face, they center eyed closed and was covered by the heavy volatile smoke. "Well I was going to be a gentlemen but I see you're too much of a fucking coward to bother making the first move, fine then, I'll gladly attack first." Dark Mist's right arm trembled violently, the smoke rose off the limb as the arm shifted into an enormous blade. The tip of the smokey blade was pulsating red, spinning at the end like a drill.

With a display of aggression Dark Mist charged at Alexander, swinging the blade wildly towards the Cat-man.

Alex rather quickly leapt away and into the nearest tree, letting go of an armful of stones as he did so, one landed with a quiet 'click' and the rather large area of mines Alex had set all detonated within miliseconds of eachother.

As each explosion when off around Dark Mist it stood still, allowing pieces of various shrapnel to rip apart it's body. Flying debris punctured the face and tore apart the jaw, nearly destroying the entire head. Portions of the mist shot out, evaporating before they had the chance to hit the ground underneath. As the dust cleared it became clear that Dark Mist was in fact still standing, and still laughing.

"Impressive parlor trick, but I'm afraid that I'm not the kind who will disspaer in a puff of smoke." Dark Mist spoke through a mouth that had emerged from under the neck, it's voice were as calm as if it was never even hurt. The mouth let out a hideous laugh as it fell back into the smoke, taunting Alex. It's arms shot out both with blades at the end, swinging away towards Alex. It was using it's ability to seek out energy to locate the catman, lacking vision at the moment.

Alex leapt out of the tree and pounced through the man, leaping once more as he hit the ground and swiftly ducking behind a tree <spoiler=OOC> Don't kill me just yet...please?

I could.....But at this moment I have decided for the sake of Surge 2 I think I will be going ape shit on you. MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

As Alexander hid behind the tree Dark Mist let out a chuckle, as it laughed it's face began to reform. The bones snapped back into place and the mist latched onto the tissue that was falling apart. As the face grew back into place the smoke rose quicker, covering Dark Mist in an impenetrable fog.

"You give me an opportunity to heal myself, bad idea kitty" Dark Mist muttered just as the face had finished rebuilding itself. The bladed hands shoot out once more, quickly slashing the tree Alexander was hiding behind. "If you give up now I'll kill you quickly, that sound fair?"

The tunnel was a great idea, Kris didn't have much energy left, all he could do now was run like the rest of the group. "We should be getting out of this damned forest after these hills. We've been running for a while."Kris hoped so anyways. He had never really ventured outside the city...not that he remembered, after all his memories were like swiss cheese at the moment.

The only way they could avoid this fire would be to make it out of the forest."Just a question."Kris said between breaths."Anyone know how far this forest goes? We've been running for a while now." Indeed the trees were not as thick as where they started, but these hills made it even harder to run away."I didn't think there was this big of a forest outside of town. Even if this is on the other side of the lake."

 

[Xero Scythe]

Damien shrugged. He handed Cathy to Kris. "Carry her. I'll wait here, cover for you guys." He threw a device at them. "take this. It's weird, but it resonates to my powers. It can clear the tunnel a few feet at a time, but that's already set up, and I can find you guys later. I'll get through this alive, I promise. Now go!" He gave them a little push using his powers. He then sealed the entrance. He took out black fist wrap and covered his right fist, reminiscing about old times. Done with that, he sat down on a rock and waited.

Ryan gazed at Damien for a moment, surprised. "Damien-" he was cut off ss the man pushed them out of the tunnel and then sealed the entrance. The rock and dirt made a sickening grinding sound as it fell into place, sealing Damien's fate as far as Ryan was concerned. He stared hard at the side of the hill, then sighed heavily and turned away, resuming their run. There was no time for sentiments.

"We should cross a highway soon." Ryan said flatly as he ran, to take his mind off Damien and Alex. "After that we'll hit farmland." The south side was odd like that; as soon as you crossed the lake the city ended and the rural countryside began. "There's a small farming community in that direction, twenty or so miles I think." He held his side and slowed for a moment, wincing. The long distance, steep hills, rigorous pace, and burns were laying a heavy toll on his untrained body. He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up.

Ryan breathed a sigh of relief as they emerged from the trees and looked down on the highway below. The Company blockades were farther up the road closer to the bridges, their spotlights barely visible in the distance. For several miles in both direction, the highway was dark, and the similarly dark farmlands stretched out beyond them. Beyond that, a faint light on the eastern heralded the dawn that would greet them soon.

HE COULD BE COMING FOR YOU NEXT!" he then opened a panel on his collar and shorted a wire out, a quiet beep began to issue from the collar. Alex leapt down and walked directly in front of the demon, allowing himself to be impaled "If zis doesn't kill you, I sure hope it hurts like hell." He said with a manic grin, his collar let out a high-pitched, continuous beep before promptly exploding with the same force as, oh, say....about sixty pounds of C4
