Catherine turned from the horizon to face Terrible. "Have you?" She stared into him, her eyes still with an unempathetic glower. "No Terrible. I've gone too far to allow that... But then, so have you. We are at an impasse. Neither can lose. We both know how this must end..." She turned away again, staring into the field of corn and out into the horizon once more.

She missed the sunrise already. It always brought such hope to her, even when things seemed so full of despair. But there was no sunrise now. Instead there was pitch black substance in the distance, and she felt as though something over there called to her. Screamed and raved and rampaged that only one person could ever hope to stop. But she knew that she wasn't that person, it only called her to postpone the damage, not to save the tortured soul. But something closer required her attention.

She wanted to ask another question, but she saw no point. She felt as if each time she asked a question she would need a thousand more to understand the man, and yet she had kept asking, hoping that somewhere in that insane shell there was a person trying to get out.

You've proven that he's not there any more time and time again. Terry, that office worker from 2 years ago? He's gone. All that is left is Terrible.

Kill him. Don't let him hurt or corrupt anyone else. You're too good to him. He doesn't deserve your mercy.

She turned again, this time her hands pulsating with unleashed energy. "This is the end of the line Terrible. There will be no return this time. No redemption for the wicked." She raised herself into the air, large serrated disks of metal starting to take form and arrange themselves around her. With a single command, thrusting one arm forwards the saw-like weapons flung themselves towards Terrible in a variety of different directions, all seeking his demise.

Cut him to pieces! Make him bleed! Make him die!

"wow you really want to kill me don`t you I dunno if I should feel proud that I`ve managed to push you this far or sad that it has to end like this but it`s still pretty bad because ... your the closest thing I have to a friend"

terrible looked away from Cathy at the ground breathing a short sigh before looking back up to see two of the saws Cathy had launched at him before shooting his arm out in front of him at a 45 degree angle a wave of ice coming up from his front blocking the two approaching saws, another two came swerving in from the right and left sides simultaneously, Terrible quickly made what appeared to be two racquetball gloves made of glacial ice on his hands before taking a huge step backwards holding both of the makeshift racquetball gloves at his front the blades getting caught in the curves inside terrible than flung his arms upward both of the blades shooting into the air disappearing into the night sky he heard the faint whistling noise of two more coming up from behind him terrible waited until they were just about to hit before trying to backflip over them managing to jump over one of them but terrible had failed to time his jump correctly and the other blade managed to brush against the side of his leg cutting straight through his suit and leaving a gash on his outer thigh.

"goddammit your getting better at aiming those things" terrible said through gritted teeth as he began cauterizing his wound looking over at Cathy.

why is it so hard to kill this one person I`ve done it thousands of times before why does she keep coming back...oh yeah because if she was dead I`d have to go find something else to do

The two beings stared at each other across the wet, raining gulf, one with righteous anger, the other with malicious eagerness. One was weakened, pitted unfairly against an opponent that he did not fully understand, nor have the capacity to defeat, the other was strengthened, his powers heightened beyond conceivability by the madness that had taken him. Both were trapped, one by physical restraints that held him back from achieving what he desired, and the other by mental anguish so extreme it drove out all else and forced him into acting out the desires that now dominated his mind.

Kris did not speak for a whole minute, the beast's question turning about in his head. What am I most afraid of? He had seen enough movies before, he could tell when a trick card was played. Giving the psychopath an obvious answer, such as clowns or drowning, would be the worst thing to do. He knew what this freak would do with that information.

A wicked grin crept across his face. He had figured it out. He would tell this thing what he was most afraid of, and it wouldn't know how to react. It wouldn't know what to do, how to use Kris' weakness against him.

"I lost my memory three years ago. By that reckoning, there's about twenty years of my life that I can't remember." Kris began with a wry smile. "I don't know who I was before that, what I did, how I grew up. I don't know any of it. It could have been wonderful, but it also could have been horrifying." He grinned and chuckled, rain still pouring off his face.

"The thing I'm most afraid of, is the person I'll discover if I ever remember my past."

Pain nodded his head slowly, the raindrops and goo that hung from his chin bouncing around like little insects caught in a spider web. "Good answer, very good answer. Somehow I didn't think you'd be honest about it, but you were, and that's good. It will make this all the more exciting."

The beast backed away from the man with an evil grin, then turned and walked about twenty feet away. Stopping, he gazed up at the sky for a moment, as if to gain inspiration.

"You really remember nothing of it?" he asked in a near whisper that could barely be heard in the pounding rain.

Kris, who had been struggling against his bonds while the thing's back was turned, looked up abruptly. "No, I don't. Why?" He was almost afraid to ask.

Pain turned back around, tongue hanging out in feral delight. "It will be fun to remind you, little wriggle-worm. Kris, I am the old you." He laughed, raising his arms in the air like an entertainer, as a large bump of goo rose up from the smooth surface of the dome between them. As it rose, it gained a face, and a chest, and arms. By the time the legs had appeared it was clear that the goo figure rising up into the rain was a copy of Kris.

Kris stared in disbelief as his copy continued to rise, the goo beneath it beginning to form into a pyramid shape. Slowly but surely, the surface of the pyramid began to change, and morph. Lines began to appear, and boxes. A story was being drawn out on the pyramid as it rose high into the air.

The first panel, at the top, depicted a baby being born. A loving father and mother bent over it, compassion in their eyes. Friends and family gathered around them, rejoicing and celebrating the birth of such a wonderful little baby boy. Next, a young toddler walked shakily across the carpet of the hallway, his mother filming him with proud delight. Down the stairs he went, shreaking in glee as he saw the piles of presents underneath the tree.

Then, a young boy, playing in the grass of the back yard, under the cool water of the sprinklers. A dog ran and romped next to him, jumping up and licking his face. The boy laughed, and the dog barked playfully. Then the first day of highschool. The young man met a girl he liked, and they hit it off. A few weeks later found them both laying in his bed, panting and grinning like they had never done before. He and his girlfriend hanging out in his backyard, soaking up the sun and watching the faithful old dog prance around in the sprinklers.

He and the dog walk along a dark rural road. A huge truck rushes past, the drunken teenagers from school laughing as they barrel by, swerving out of their way to strike the un-knowing canine. The young man screams as the truck rolls on down the road, leaving the poor dog broken in half, whimpering, in the middle of the pavement. The young man runs up to his friend, tears streaming from his eyes, and cradles the loyal companion in his arms as it slowly dies.

Blood. Bodies. A broken jaw and a figure cowering in a corner. The young man stands tall, his shadow looming over the huddled shape. The other man begs for mercy, but gets none. The police arrive, but the young man is gone. He get's back to his house, where his girlfriend waits. She tries to console him, but he slaps her, striking her again and again, forcing her to the ground. She cries, pleading with him and begging him to stop, but he doesn't.

Paranoia. Violent outbursts. Suspicion. He runs away, fleeing from the hell he's created. They hunt him, he evades them, and each time it get's closer. More bodies, more blood, dead cops and broken families. The body count rises, he's a wanted man. Sirens and lights, the cruel sniffing of tracking hounds. The darkness of the trees conceal him. Weapons and drugs, plans and pacts, the gentle aroma of perfume as his next target passes temptingly an a dark city street. His cunning increases day by say, till he finally destroys the one person who could have brought him to justice. They lay in a pool of blood, surrounded by everyone who they loved.

Kris tore his eyes away, heart pounding. The goo around his face forced him back towards the pyramid, but he clenched his eyes shut. This wasn't real, this thing didn't know anything about his past, the freak was just making it up... this couldn't be real!

Two tendrils of blackness reached down and latched onto Kris' eyelids. He shied away from the touch, struggling desperately to pull his head away, but he was trapped. Slowly but forecfully the tendrils open his eyes against his will, and he is forced to gaze in stark horror uopn the sight before him. The pyramid had risen more than thirty feet into the air, and now it's foundation was made clear. Beneath the terrible story of his life, lay a massive mound of bodies.

Although it was all completely black, it was rendered in frighteningly life-like detail. Cops and doctors, school teachers and teenagers, all lay piled on top of one another, killed in utterly gruesome ways. Pregnant woman and the babies they never got to have, parents laying dead next to wailing children. Dogs and cats, birds, turtles, rabbits, all bloodied and ripped apart, displayed on spikes of barbed wire fence. Dozens of young woman, lying naked and bruised, expressions of desperate pain and anguish etched on their faces. Black ooze flowed from every crevice of the mound like blood, pooling beneath the pyramid and running along the smooth surface of the dome.

And at the top, the image of Kris had changed. His skull was angled and sharp, with hideous pointed ears and long, insidious fangs. A feral grin stretched across his cracked lips, his hair hung down around his shoulders in clumps, dried with blood. In his bloodied hands he held the two halves of his dog.

A long, anguished wail of utter torture and pain echoed through the rain. Atop the great black dome, the trapped air bender let loose his horror into the sky, tears rushing down his face. His mind was not processing whether or not this history of his life was true or not, no, it was simply looking at it as what it was, and wailing. The shock of his image being there and somebody saying that the person in the story was him, coupled with the fact that he didn't remember what his life actually was, tormented his mind like nothing before. This couldn't be him, it couldn't, and yet, he couldn't prove otherwise. He couldn't remember. There was no way that he could ever know whether or not this was true.

Another wail pushed itself out, his eyes fixed to the hideous depiction in front of him. He couldn't look away. Slowly, at the edge of his vision, a figure moved. The beast, the monster, finally came forth.

"This, is a monument." Pain said slowly as he emerged from behind his beautiful and terrible creation. "A monument... to you." He grinned as Kris flinched, struggling against his bonds and trying desperately to free himself as tears flowed down his face. His head shook back and forth, the phrase 'no' escaping his lips over and over again. Slowly, Pain approached him.

"It is a monument, to all you have done. To your life, Kristopher. Your life. This is the old you, Kris. This is what you were. Are you glad you finally found out?" The goo raised Kris up so he was on eye level with the beast. Pain wrapped one massive hand around Kris' head, then stepped aside to gaze on his monument as Kris did.

Aren't they beautiful, Kristopher, all these people? Especially that one, right there. So... beautiful." He cackled, spitting black goo everywhere. "Look at the wonders you've done with them. They get to be a part of this grand monument, this beautiful representation of the wonderful life that you lived. Just look at what you've done with them." He suddenly turned back on Kris, tightening his grip on the man's head as the air bender whimpered. "I had no idea that such a fundamentally good, white knight such as Lancelot would ever be capable of committing that!"

Kris' mouth dropped open as the realization struck him. Suddenly time seemed to stand still, as he gazed in horror at the thing in front of him.

"R... Ryan?"

A cruel and devilish expression widened Pain's mouth so it stretched across his entire head. He laughed, mouth full of razor teeth wagging up and down right in Kris' face, tongue flipping out and licking the air benders face with it's gooey ugliness.

"Haha, you got it! I wondered when you would!" The beast continued to laugh, holding it's stomach and leaning backwards.

"R-Ryan?!?! Oh my god..." Kris' head drooped, his eyes still staring at the monstrosity before him in disbelief. "No, there's no way... that's not possible..."

"Not possible? Hah! Listen to me, and look at me, and tell me it's not possible!" As he said this Pain's voice changed back to that of Ryan's, although a cruel mockery. His face also opened up, revealing the laughing, maniacle face of the human deep under the goo. Kris started backwards as far as his restraints would let him in revulsion.

"No, no no no no no, this isn't.... no..." Kris muttered as the face closed back up and Pain's voice returned to "normal".

"Don't worry, Kris. Ryan is dead. Now it's just me, Pain. I'm here to sentence you." He leaned forward, tongue elongating outwards towards the man. "I'm here to get revenge for all those people you killed, Kris. All those children you orphaned, all those families you tore apart. I'm here to cause you the same pain you caused them."

Kris began to struggle again, furiously tearing at the goo that trapped him, but it was no use. "Ryan, please, no... don't do this!" It was not in Kris' nature to beg or plead, but right now, it was the only reaction he could force out.

"Ryan isn't here, Kris, but don't worry. I can be merciful. I'll start out with releasing you from the torment of having to watch." His tongue slowly crawled up the struggling man's face, inching towards his right eye. The goo held Kris' head in place, not letting him move. Then, slowly, the tendril pushed it's way into the eye socket.

Kris shuddered, trembling, looking at the beast with pleading eyes for a few seconds, before suddenly his face contorted into a silent expression of agony. A quiet squelching sound punctuated the silence as the eyeball popped.

Then he screamed.

Pain's tongue whipped out of the man's head and held up the little white blob in front of Pain's face, where he looked at it thoughtfully and bounced it around a little bit as Kris screamed. Then he tossed it aside with a smirk, and raised his tongue again. "Now for the other one. Any last sights?"

He grinned wickedly, then froze in sudden doubt as a faint, continuous whooshing sound was heard behind him.

The entire area was suddenly engulfed in flame and Pain was launched across the dome as the missile struck. Then another, and another, and another. The world was turned upside down and covered in fire. Pain's concentration was broken, as was his link to the goo, and the dome collapsed.

The Company had arrived, and brought the big guns. Twelve Apache' helicopters, all armed to the teeth, hovered in the air above firing non-stop into the fray. Six tanks and heavy artillery weapons surrounding the area in a circle, raining down hell. Wild screams of rage and anger echoed from within the mass of expanding dirt where the dome used to be, which was now hemmed in by fire and brimstone.

And somewhere, in all the chaos, Damien and Kris escaped. The wild howls of the monster and the brilliant boom of exploding vehicles reverberated through the hills.

****************

Darkness fell once more. The rain continued to descend, gathering itself at the bottom of the crater where a large hunched figure sat. The water dripped from it's long, toothy head and onto the ground, adding to the already deep pool of stagnant filth that it sat in. Blood, from various unrecognizable body parts, seeped in. Guts and arms, heads and feet, all lay heaped in piles nearby, and floating in the black murk. Here and there, massive chunks of metal and still burning helicopter parts sat embedded in the mud, limbs and bloody skeletons still hanging from their cockpits. All was silent.

Pain slowly raised his head, gazing at the destruction around him. The rain slid along his body, mixing with the real blood that dripped out of innumerable wounds. He craned his neck, looking up at the sky. The clouds seemed to be clearing, a few stars were even visible.

Stars... so beautiful, so mystical, so hot. The searing flame of a billion stars gathered together would be quite the sight to see. And feel. He he.

He grinned, slowly standing up from the kneeling position he had occupied. The blood and water and mud clung to his arms, dripping off them with sickening sounds. Gazing to the east, he could sense that something had happened there as well, not too far away. An old acquaintance had died, maybe more than one. He had a keen feeling for death.

Chuckling to himself, Pain looked up at the stars one more time, and then pulled himself out of the mud. A different force was calling him, to go a different way. Looking wistfully to the east one more time, he turned away and started off in some other random direction, slowly disappearing into the night.

That, folks, will be my final post. And dang, was it long and intense. I'm gonna go get some cookies and watch spongebob, lest I become extremely depressed.

Imagine how I feel! This was my first RP on this website, the first one that I joined that finished[sup][1][/sup], and the one that shows all my progress. I have never been so attached to any character as much as I was to Ray[sup][2][/sup]/Dark Mist, and to top it all off I don't think I can ever top those two.

That and I was almost arrested twice over the course of this RP, which has nothing to do with this but it's still worth pointing out!

[sup]1: Planet Zero doesn't count, I was hosting that rather then playing it.
2: Perhaps because i was using my real name, but the verdict still stands. [/sup]

Dude, I know exactly what you mean. This was the first one I joined that finished as well. Ryan is like my first car(which I wrecked, is this a bad omen?), or my first bike. So many memories...

And dude, your progress(all of us, of course, including me, but your's especially) is so radical. Not meaning to pick on you, but just go back and take a look at a few of your posts from the beginning of this RP, and you'll see what I mean. ;)

Compare that to now, and wow. I'll tell you something Nuke, I didn't like you at first, lol. I tend to rely heavily on first impressions. But now you're like, freakin' awesome, and one of the RPers I respect the most. *thumbs up*

Hah, thanks. I looked back at it about a week ago, nearly strangled myself out of rage. I'm actually having trouble believing I wrote like that.... =P

I'm often thought to be a quick learner, but I really doubt I'll be able to beat you and Aqua. I still have alot more to learn, fortunately, I have you guys.

Anyway that reminds me of two things.

1) When is 3W going to kick off surge 2?
2) What is with the writing style in Across Four Great Islands? I have been taking an interest to it, but what is with the IC/Tag stuff?

Learn from Aqua, lol. I'm not near as good as her. She at least has proper layout and plot and pace and stuff, haha. I can write well, but she can write well and write fast. I take forever to get my stuff right, and then I go back and edit it to take out all the mistakes.

1) Probably a few days after Surge 1 is over. He may need some time to get the setting and plot down. The longer he takes, the better the story.

2) Thanks for reminding me, lol. I need to get back into that RP, maybe you joining would provide that extra 'oomph'.

IC means In Character. At the beginning of each post, you say which character you'r going to be using. It comes in useful when someone is controlling more than one character.

TAG is whoever should read that post, whoever will be effected by it.

It's a "hardcore RP" system, one of the ones they use on sites dedicated entirely to RP. I really want to get into one of those, but haven't found the time lol. Too busy here with you people ;P

1) I suppose so, anyway I'm all set with my next Char. =D

2) Hmmmm...I could use a good fantasy RP to perk up my spirit. Very well, I shall make tweaks to my character Privere from Lost Love and try my luck to get in, I love my cynical Red Mage and really want to take him to some new places.

"Aw... I'm really sorry for you, fucking with my life this way. You've murdered hundreds, maybe even thousands, but you're obviously the victim in all of this. I'm sure all of this would go away if someone gave you a hug," Catherine didn't even try to mask her disdain for the man this time, she had had enough of his petty games, "Never mind the people who died! Forget about those supers that went missing and more than likely died in the aftermath."

She spat and began descending to the ground, "You're sick. Twisted. Before I thought it was screws loose. But now? It's all too clear that the screws aren't even there anymore."

She landed in a spot of sheared corn with a soft thud and began walking to meet Terrible face-to-face. At first... at first he had been the stuff of her nightmares, she was filled with a deep feeling of dread every time she saw him. And now she would kill him. It was almost funny, her fear had been reduced to nothing now. Had she changed simply by letting her power go? Perhaps. But she had also begun to win.

Her power took priority again, flooding her mind with thoughts of revenge and clouding her rationality. From underneath Terrible several chains rose, catching him off guard and attempting to anchor him to the spot, and Catherine chuckled.

"I could just leave you to die, as you did to me... But I'd prefer to watch you draw your final breaths as you leave this world," A long shard of metal appeared in her hand, "Goodnight... Terrible."

She jumped forwards to Terrible, plunging the pointed weapon into his chest before taking several steps backwards.

Terrible was breathing deeply, the shard more than likely deep into his lung, but his breaths quickly turned to bitter laughter. "Is that it? A metal spike? That's what you are usin-" His sentence was reduced to animal-like cries of pain as the weapon shifted in the wound, splaying outwards in a twisting explosion and shredding the man's insides.

The chains let the man fall to the ground and what was left of the shifting metal shard evaporated from Terrible's body, leaving the man to die slowly in a pool of his own blood.

My final post, methinks, unless I have anything to add after Terribleyetfun's. Congrats guys, it's one of the few RPs I've managed to finish in a long time.

terrible almost felt like he was floating away as the spike twisted inside him his previously savage cries of pain reduced to small whimpers as his once vibrant body was reduced to nothing.

is this it?, is this how my life ends at the hands of some third rate hero

terrible's life flashed before his eyes his beginning, his life as a demi-god all of it led to this, his blood started to seep into his mouth as he he started coughing it back out breathing becoming near impossible

NO I CANNOT LET THIS BE IT IF I DIE SHE WILL GO WITH ME

terrible started to stir something primal was keeping him alive the blood he lost started seeping back into his body and his body started to twitch the ground under him started to quake and in one quick lunge drawing upon a force that even he was surprised he broke free of the chains containing him and immediately closed the distance between him and Catherine and with his final ounce of power created two blades made entirely of ice on his fists he then stabbed both of them into Catherine's stomach before ripping them both upward into her lungs a mixture of his blood and hers now on his shirt.

A scream was ripped from her lips as terrible put a sinister smile on his face as almost in a token gesture terrible turned his head upwards and spat out a comet of blue flame a trail of electricity running from it`s tail as it fired into the sky.

As quickly as it had happened whatever had possessed terrible faded and his blood immediately sprayed out, his body lifeless as he fell backwards Catherine still impaled on his blades as she landed on top of him.

"I....win" was all terrible could say as he faded away into the cold embrace of death.

Agreed, I'm having trouble containing myself.

And you missed alot of things on the forums in your absence. I restarted Trial 1:eek:f the dungeon, I'm working on a new RP, A Star Wars RP started, Yorg made a forum game, round four of serial killer is starting, and two RP's made it to page 100.
