I once had surgery on my nose for a deviated septum. I spent 3 days in recovery hell for the first round then another week and a half for the second part which wasn't too bad. I started gaming around that second half of recovery but the first round 4geddaboutit.

I had surgery on both my hands, made life a little awkward for a while. Didn't work, have a degree of nerve blindness in both hands now (it is like typing with 2 bunches of bananas).

I also had a gynaecological procedure. That also completely failed.

I had to use a voice programme when my hands were all wrapped up, I was told to move my fingers right after the procedure but I am a touch typist and gamer and wasn't supposed to do either. It was the most bored I have ever been.

The other, you don't wanna hear about. But no, I didn't use the PC/consoles any more or less. I was just off work for a few days.

I had all of my wisdom teeth taken out a number of years ago. They didn't give me nearly enough Vicodin for recovery :(

I had hip surgery for an infected joint when I was about 5. The joint was saved and everything went more or less perfectly. I was on antibiotics for months afterward, both IV (via a PIC line) and oral. Was hospitalized for about two weeks.

I tore some cartilage in my knee while playing flag football (American) for my middle school (7th grade). We had some very poor quality grass and I must have stepped into a hole, but me being stubborn, I played the rest of that football season and basketball season before opting for surgery over spring break. Took me maybe 6 months to walk on my own power again. I spent most of the time off on the vidya games.

I also had my wisdom teeth taken out ealier this summer, which took about a week before I could fully open my jaw again. Most of that time was on the computer.

Oh, also I had stiches near my eye as a 2 year old if that counts. Clumsy me falling in a rose bush. Almost poked my eye... at least now I have a really neat scar right next to my eye though. ^_^

Also, TC how did you tear your ACL and meniscus? Just curious, but you don't need to answer.
Haha by the sounds of things I've had almost all the same surgeries as you've had!
I got my wisdom teeth out about a year ago. Almost killed myself with it though, considering that I kept thinking that the stitches in my mouth had dissolved enough that I could just pull them out (fyi: you can't do that...it hurts a bloody lot.)

My knee? Lol soccer. Same as your thing, actually. First game of the season and the grass wasn't groomed well. So I was running and I just...fell...somehow. I hit the ground and couldn't speak because it hurt so much, so I couldn't tell anyone what was wrong for about 5 minutes! Arg the agony lol. The car trip too was a nightmare, every turn hurt! Didn't find out it was torn in two until 2 weeks after I had been walking on it. Didn't like those days one bit!
(Alternatively, a girl on my team said that she thought she saw someone kick me as I ran for the ball. I don't remember that, but it's possible. Haha and that also sounds cooler than tripping on a clump of grass, donit?)

One of my friends actually tore the caritlage in her knee too. S
he got the surgery, but didn't go for physio. Now it's biting her in the ass. I hope you went for yours!!
I don't think I would try to pull stitches out, I imagined it would hurt a lot. :p

Yeah I went for my physical therapy, for two reasons:

1. My lack of physical activity had caused me to gain weight and I wanted to be able to exercise again quicker.

and 2. I wanted to play football and basketball again. Sports were my entire life for the first 13 years of my existence. ^_^

Also, at your knee story ouch, I was wondering if I had torn something important when my knee got hurt, but I guess I probably wouldn't have been able to jog on it after if it was.

Had my wisdom teeth out, and they put me under for that...

Other than that I've never needed to go under the knife, never broke a bone, or had a serious issue (Besides Strep throat twice, and the stomach flu)...

4 sets of eustation tubes, which for those of you unfamiliar involves sticking a metal tube into your inner ear to drain fluid. And wisdom teeth, but that was minor.

I never had surgery. I apparently almost had to have surgery due to a broken arm but the doctors eventually managed to get the bone back into its correct position.

I'm unlucky, I've never been injured enough to be sent to a hosptial, it's always bandages for me.

The reason I say I'm unlucky is because when you get injured the people around you give you special treatment, and you can get away with doing nothing because it's justified. I never got that, sad faic.

I'm actually glad that I never need an operation of any kind. I hate being disabled in any way, so if I was stuck recovering from surgery my life would become a bummer.

Aye, I've had many a surgery in attempts to fix my cleft palate (shitty attempts mind you) the most recent was in 2006, I had a 48 hour contastant nose bleed and a camera shoved all the way up my nose, twas a very uncomfortable hospital stay :[

I have one more surgery for sure but who knows I could have more, just depends on how things go.

"Haircuts and surgery, get your haircuts and surgery." Alright, I admit it: I'm 15 and I watch Flapjack. Oh, and I've never had surgery.

9 times. My most recent and most severe was Brain surgery to remove asmall benign tumor on the back of my brain.

The others have been on my sinuses around 4 times, my arm, and my mouth a few times.

For most sugeries, I have an incredibly quick recovery time, but I also have a horrible reaction to anasthesia, so it evens out.

When I say horrible reaction, I mean Blind Berserk rage so violent that the doctors usually openly admit to me that they were afraid of me (during the initial stages of anasthesia).

Nothing major, I just had a few baby teeth removed when they stubbornly refused to make way for my 'adult' teeth. Local anaesthesia in your jaw area is... interesting. Trying to speak at any point for the rest of the day was fun.

Don't trust surgeons in general. I know they have a hard job, but really, does anyone really like being unconscious and left to the whims of complete strangers? Also, I can never shake the feeling that some of these operations are shoddily conducted, and you come away not quite fixed; like employing a crap contractor for a bathroom's refurbishment (and if you get that wrong, the whole place soon becomes mouldy, as was proven by the one I had).

So, over a year ago I tore my left crucial ligament (ACL)
Is that the one in your knee? Cause if so, my brother did the exact same thing. It took him about 6 months to realise what he had done, though, so it was pretty fucked.

OT: I've never had surgery but both my brothers and my mother have. One brother got knee surgery, the other one back surgery and my mum got surgery on both her hips, twice!!!

We're not a very lucky family.
Yeah, it's my knee. I guess you've seen it first hand then? Haha it's not a pretty sight, especially the x-rays...
Lol but by the sounds of it you yourself are pretty lucky!! Being in the middle of your family and having no surgery! :]

Yeah, I was just allergic. And yeah, it was pretty serious. Apparently, if I didn't have it, I may have woke up someday without any feeling in my legs. But there was no proof of that. There still isn't. I have no idea if I actually needed the damn surgery or not. No one does. Hell, a while ago, my mom said that, looking back, even she thinks the whole thing was a mistake.

Sorry, I'm kinda venting, aren't I?
That's okay, I can understand what you mean...Well maybe I shouldn't say that I understand. I mean I haven't needed to have life changing surgery, so maybe I don't get it. But I can imagine that thinking that you may have gone through so much pain and it may have been for nothing to be...irritating, to say the least.
But, hey, better to be safe then sorry, right? What if now you couldn't move your legs because you didn't get the surgery? Maybe it's best to think that the surgery was worth it because you can still walk (I assume, I don't actually know if you can...Man THAT would be awkward...) Sorry, now I'm writing too much. Sorry!

I went through the same weight thing! Haha! I couldn't stand just sitting around...(but the whole thing did make me quit soccer, in the end, which was a bit sad.)
Haha and yeah, you had it lucky!! I couldn't even walk, let alone jog! xD
