I was about to mouth off about this statement, but even though Big Boss is MGSV's main protagonist it is actually very likely that Solid Snake may infact be in The Phantom Pain in some context (EG: why David Hayter isn't playing BB theoretically) so that could turn out to be technically accurate.IanDavis said:After a decade, Solid Snake returns to the PC.
You mean, basically porting this thing?NuclearKangaroo said:hell the HD collection already existsUltratwinkie said:I hope They put the legacy titles on steam too. Old games are basically free money. Steam needs more legacy titles.
I'd even accept GOG. Too many PC games from the pre-digital era are being lost to time because they don't want to sell on digital distribution, and it'd be nice to not go to ebay to get them on an outdated form of media.

porting this and then slaping in MGS1 on top (which was released on PC) would be a complete no brainer and im 100% konami would make a ton of money out of it, i know i would fucking buy it day one
playing MGS3: Subsistence again would be so amazing
Way too late about the PC gamers being dickish part, there's already another article on PC gamer salivating it as some sort of victory over consoles and publishers, basically anyone not having anything on PC.Madame_Lawliet said:I was about to mouth off about this statement, but even though Big Boss is MGSV's main protagonist it is actually very likely that Solid Snake may infact be in The Phantom Pain in some context (EG: why David Hayter isn't playing BB theoretically) so that could turn out to be technically accurate.IanDavis said:After a decade, Solid Snake returns to the PC.
OT: This is great news! Having the PC market in there in addition to both console generations will both help expand the audience, and give PC gamers a chance to see why hardcore fans like me obsess about this series so much.
I just hope the PC crowd doesn't get all dickish and elitist about them having " the only real version," or some other exclusionary nonsense, they've been getting especially bad about that recently.
The reason Japanese publishers are releasing games on PC is because PC versions of popular console exclusives tend to sell well. Frankly, I was glad that the PC got Dark Souls and Metal Gear Rising, and now I'm glad it's getting a major MGS installment. Who complains about getting more games on your platform?Rastrelly said:So what, should we all be happy for that?
Yes, because it's one of the best stealth franchises out there?
I think PC version will fail: console crowd will buy it on consoles, PC crowd will not care at all. All hail exclusives!
Hopefully, it'll be less disappointing than the Deus Ex JC Denton Nude Patch [http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2007/12/05/to-whoevers-googling-for-jc-denton-nude-patch/].fight me in space said:Big Boss nude mods incoming.

Now you are being wilfully silly, but I'll humor you.

And what if this game is Sacred 3 of its franchise?
Not just in the west. Apparently, PC gaming is growing in Japan as well. That might have something to do with this decision too.RA92 said:The reason Japanese publishers are releasing games on PC is because PC versions of popular console exclusives tend to sell well.
i imagine theres still some sort of exclusivity deal regarding MGS4, but i definitively wouldnt mind playing itBindal said:You mean, basically porting this thing?NuclearKangaroo said:hell the HD collection already existsUltratwinkie said:I hope They put the legacy titles on steam too. Would also contain MGS1 and MGS4...
Pretty sure exclusivity is blocking MGS4 as it was not in the legacy collection for Xbox. They cited space reasons for its exclusion but its hard to take that seriously.Bindal said:You mean, basically porting this thing?

That was actually true. Space issues existed because of uncompressed audio they used. They could release the collection on Xbox One if they deem that move worthy of their time. I really hope that we'll eventually get the entire MGS collection for PC. I would like to replay all of the older MGS games. MGS4 could be distributed digitally, so space issues shouldn't be a problem on the PC nowadays. In the end it all comes down to the money, Lebowski. If they don't think they'll make any, we won't get it.Rozalia1 said:Pretty sure exclusivity is blocking MGS4 as it was not in the legacy collection for Xbox. To understand why a move to PC would be successful, you have to understand the Metal Gear fanbase. A HUGE majority of the fanbase has always wanted a PC version of the game, and now we've got it. A lot of fans of the Metal Gear series, and I believe Kojima himself as well, have always thought that Metal Gear was a little... held back by hardware limitations, especially when it came to MGS4. Fox Engine is probably scales WAAAY back for PS4, and even more so for XB1 so this PC release is Kojima's way of showing not just a beautiful game, but giving the Fox Engine a platform on which its limits can really be tested. Max graphics on this game is going to look amazing.Rastrelly said:So what, should we all be happy for that? I'm, for example, a pure PC player, and I didn't play any of Metal Gear games. I know there was one or two on PC, but why would I care? There were at least 4 more! I don't know shit about characters, story or setting. I think PC version will fail: console crowd will buy it on consoles, PC crowd will not care at all. All hail exclusives!
Soon....Xan Krieger said:Add Metal Gear Solid to it and we'd have a deal. I wish either Steam or GOG would pick that up. That said more of Big Boss is always welcome, he's my favorite character in any game ever.
