Surprisingly good games you bought because they were cheap

I found Smackdown vs. RAW 2008 pretty cheap in a bargain bin (and had in the recent year gotten an interest in pro wrestling). It's not a good game, but it's certainly surprisingly good. Had it's moments, and I killed some hours for a cheap buck.

I bought the Xbox version of Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind GoTY at Gamestop a few years ago for $5 and it turned into one of my favorite games.
Last year, I bought The Bard's Tale for the Xbox for $3 and that, too, became one of my, if not favorite game.

Penumbra Collection during a Steam sale. Everything else I've got from those sales was either something I've already played or something I still haven't played yet...

I bought Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker off of a friend for $5. It was more than worth it considering I've played through the game at least 5 times and have put over 300 hours into it.

Team Fortress 2. I picked it up for $10 from Best Buy.

I wasn't at all surprised that it was good, but I am surprised that Valve continues to try and sell it for $20

I just picked up Mirrors edge for 50p from GAME (I had a couple quid on my reward card), which has got to be worth it for any game really, but this one isn't even bad.

So tell me escapists, what have you bought because you had a little bit of change left over from lunch and been surprised by?
SYSTEM SHOCK (bought it secondhand for a quid, it's still my favorite game ever)

I've had good luck with cheap gems. Sniper Elite for around £5, Silent Hill 2 for £10, Final Fantasy CC Crystal Bearers for £20 (about a month after it came out), and most recently Metro 2033 for £20.

I bought the Penumbra Collection during a Steam sale as well. Whilst very atmospheric, it can get a bit samey a few hours in...

I got Turning Point: Fall of Liberty for $5, it's not the best game but it's so much fun gunning down thousands of Nazi's! IN THE WHITE HOUSE! Loved that game.

Oh and I pretty much buy every game I get cheap. Then again, compared to all you non-Aussie people I'm probably paying a crapload coz the prices here suck balls...

ICO for 12 bucks a year or 2 after it came out. Left 4 dead 2 and Arkahm Asylum for 35 bucks each at the Base Exchange on an Air Force Base. I just bought Chromehounds for 3 bucks at a Hollywood Video that was goin out of business. Game is fun and original but no longer supports multi player online. Guess i got this one too late.
