I mean, are we just going to label all slice of life stories "political" or just ones involving gays or minorities?

But...why include minorities if you aren't going to make it political? What's the point?

More seriously, can someone include minorities without it becoming political?
What.
Well, I mean, there is a narrow default that all characters must adhere to, or you are likely to get a massive outcry from the sort of people that make massive outcries about that sort of thing, and people choosing not to restrict themselves to that default know this in advance.

For example, Rowling would have known she'd upset lots of bigots when she announced Dumbledore was gay.

Now, having said that, choosing to remain in that narrow default is also political, but gets overlooked much more due to being the default.

Should there be a point? Can't normal people be portrayed in a game without it raising controversy due to their race or nationality? As to the answer your third question I would say yes. Look at the US military. It's compromised of a bunch of people from almost every race and there is no politics there about it. Yes, I believe someone can include a character from a minority without it being considered political.

The person is just including normal everyday people.

As to the first, I wasn't being serious. As to the second, I'd say apparently not. Plenty of people looking to get offended by the existence of minorities.

Massive political fight to get that to happen, though.

I'd argue that that is itself a political act.

Back when it happened it was but I was mainly speaking in the last 20 years when the game takes takes place. Watching documentaries and talking to soldiers has pretty much taught me that race doesn't really matter in the military. Everyone pretty much views themselves as brothers.

Why people look to get offended I will never know. As for the third thing no matter how hard I look I can't see it being political at all. I just view it as normal everyday people being put into the game.

That seems exceedingly unlikely to me. Putting aside examples of rather nasty racism, that's saying that the US military has totally overcome a very serious problem that the rest of the US can't tackle.

Assuming that this is for some reason true, though, LGB people only just got (nominally) accepted, and T still aren't.

Well, would it be a political decision to make everyone a white Aryan white blonde hair and blue eyes? I'd argue it would, and that it also would be a political decision not to do that. An obvious one people might do without thinking, but still a political decision.

In any case, currently actually depicting everyday people is still a bit unusual, and politicised.

There is a documentary that helps show this better than I could ever explain it. It's called Restrepo and it's really good. It's extremely heavy in some scenes though. I believe it's on Netflix. I say give it a watch. If I was in the military and I wish I didn't have a disability that stopped me from joining I wouldn't care if the person to the left and right of me is LGBT and/or a minority. I would just view them as a brother that is fighting alongside me.

You might not, but they are a diverse crowd in the military.

If you do watch Restrepo let me know what you think of it.
