Sorry for bringing up Lulzsec again; i'm sure eveyone's pretty bored of their antics by now, but i thought you guys might be interested in this.

The BBC are reporting that a teenager from the UK has been arrested following a joint Scotland Yard and FBI probe into the hacking of websites. While they wouldn't confirm or deny the arrested teen was a member of Lulzsec, a significant amount of material had been discovered at the teen's home, with forensic investigations ongoing.

But what do you think? Will another hacker arrest deter these kids? And what is a fair sentence for e-crime?

Lulzsec themselves said it wasn't one of them, sorry to tell you.

Meh, it won't change anything.

BYAAA stop quoting me xD yeahyeah, I realise that. Either way, until security is improved or they're all caught, nothing's gonna change.

Because they are people of integrity?
I'm not saying the person is or isn't part of the group, but a denial from Lulsec is hardly compelling proof.

SUPERMAN NOT A THREAT TO LEXCORP, SAYS LUTHOR

It seems a bit funny to take a criminal's word for something. They're hardly going to openly admit to something like this, especially if it's seen as a weakness. They're all about rallying their supporters.

Humorous headlines aside, i do agree with you. Even if it is a member of LulzSec, it's not going to stop them and it's not going to stop any future hacker groups, whether or not they are a part of LulzSec themselves. I read a statement from them a while back, saying they weren't going to be stopped until they were all caught or they grew bored. I really don't think they care about any token arrests that might be made. You just can't fight terrorism, cyber or otherwise. It'll always be there.

They'll always say it wasn't one of them, even when it is.

I can't help but notice that Lulzsec denies (via their twitter) that it's leader was arrested, they never actually deny that one of their group was arrested.

If it was one of them, it doesn't really matter. They're similar in nature to "Anonymous" as in they don't really have a concise group or method of operation. Obviously whoever is handling the Twitter feed is still around and it seems like they are still operating so no big deal for now.

Now I don't know about everyone else, but I'd much rather some lulz than some big corporation DRM bullshit. So I'm all for Anon and Lulzsec and their troll antics.

But superman isn't a threat to lexcorp he's to much of a boy scout and he always send them to jail when he can.

a lot of these but at least it's new news...

btw Lulzsec is the ones who hacked sony am i right?

because it couldn't be Anon since i'm with Anon, and since there is no wayof proving, no qualifiations to be with the other than saying you are, and sony's only proof was a 'note'(which could have been planted by the real hackers or made by a sony employee afterwards)

so are Lulzsec those people?

You're not anymore. I SEE YOU.

OT: If it is one of them then wooyay I guess, 1 down some more to go. If not oh well, but it may make hackers think twice about pisssing off the wrong people.

Yes, LulzSec admitted to the "big one" with Sony.

Btw, the Web Ninjas group that claim it to be their mission to bring LulzSec down posted this.

http://lulzsecexposed.blogspot.com/

So far the info that they are feeding to the FBI is right on the money.

And given the archived chats present on that blog LulzSec is in serious hot water. Hence why they have transitioned from a message of "We are the Gods of Internet, you can't touch us" to "everybody rally to us". They need meatshields now that they are exposed. But they will be caught, all of them.

EDIT : Here's a nice excerpt from that Web Ninjas blog :

"Anyways as Ryan is arrested, your IRC irc.lulzco.org logs are with FBI, SOCA and Interpol. Now we understood why did you DDOS SOCA yesterday."

Which is perfectly true. LulzSec are hitting govt targets now, because the authorities are on their trail after their unprovoked rampages on "civilian" targets (Minecraft,LoL,EVE Online,Escapist, etc).

That is why LulzSec has launched operation AntiSec. Not because governments and corporations are "evil", they don't give a fuck about such ideals. They only want to save their asses since everybody is on their tail for their random acts of cyber-vandalism.

P.S : From the lulzsec twitter :

"People should keep releasing fake LulzSec stuff. It helps filter out the peon masses from the respectable, fact-checking media outlets."

Translation : Where before they reveled in attention, now they need a smokescreen.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Saeed_al-Sahhaf

"On April 7, 2003, al-Sahhaf claimed that there were no American troops in Baghdad, and that the Americans were committing suicide by the hundreds at the city's gates. His last public appearance as Information Minister was on April 8, 2003, when he said that the Americans "are going to surrender or be burned in their tanks. They will surrender, it is they who will surrender"."

I have a feeling that the day LulzSec is shut down is the day they will proclaim far and wide that they in fact ARE teh internetz .

They hacked Sony MUSICS Site. Not the PSN servers. I actually forgot Sony had other branches besides video games for a while since they aren't really pushing much else.

But he is very trustworthy.

I sure believed him when he said that there wasn't any US air strikes happening.
