Just watched the BBC news at 10, apparently US and British agencies have found one of the key Lulzsec hackers, a 19 year old agoraphobic, in Essex. He and another teenager are currently trying to fight extradition to the States for trial action.

I don't want to wear out on the who hacking scandal, but what are your feelings on this? Particularly if you are a PS3 owner like me?

EDIT: Here is the article version of the report on the BBC news website citing the suspects name. apparently this "Ryan" may have been the same one that caused the fracture within anonymous before defecting to Lulzsec, but at this point that is complete speculation.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13859868

America are citing the need to extradition on the grounds that many of the companies that have been attacked are conglomerates with more US based cause for prosecution, for example the supreme court hearings and suspected CIA hacking.

They are especially concerned with that has only been lightly referred to as "Links" in particular reference to SONY and other "significant amounts of material".

This seems to be the real deal, at least in a small part.

How did they find him? Did that blog dedicated to tracking down LulzSec members find him? Do they know what operations he was part of? What's his expected jail sentence? What's your source?

TOO MANY QUESTIONS! From what you've presented, I guess this is encouraging, maybe they'll take down LulzSec and AntiSec after all.

EDIT: Here's a source.

It appears that he wasn't even part of the PSN scandal, it looks like he's being arrested for the DDoS wave.

Personally, I don't care. The PS3 was a substantial threat, but this comes off more as exhibitionism.

I also find it funny that they guy is agoraphobic, but mostly because it propagates the typical stereotype associated with the hacking crown.

Source please? I refuse to believe anything without confirmation.

If it's true though... well they had to be somewhere.

Lulzsec are claiming it was just someone who hosted one of their many IRC chats. Source

I don't know who to believe, as they might want to keep their reputation as untouchable, but I think it's fair to say that it might be a step forward.

The IRC's have to leave a trace of their IP right?

Calumon: Does this mean that I can go online again without someone stealing me? :S

Might this do? Linky
I can't say whether he did it or not, I suspect things like this to be very hard to actually prove. If he did it, however, well, you reap as you sow. He and others did dickish actions, so they're going to pay for it.

An agoraphobic? What a master of terror he must be. Proof Lulsex is a bunch of wimps who hide behind a computer to do things they'd be scared to in real life.
>Agorophobics are just wimps

Well that's just mean...

I thought that lulzec had accepted donations in U.S. currency, so wouuldn't that mean they were centered in the U.S.? Maybe this guy (if this story is true) is just one of there partners in crime.

Just because they accept donations in US currency doesn't mean they are based in the US. Don't forget, even though it's not as strong as it used to be, a lot of things are tied to the dollar.

Yeah, because they'd admit defeat like that.

I'm not saying he's definitely a part of L/S, but that's nothing like 'proof'.
I dunno, I don't see why they'd lie about that, but regardless of whether he's affiliated with them he's still going to get shitfucked.

Should have gotten behind 7 proxies etc.

What's that? Someone in Britain has committed a crime on the internet? Extradite them immediately!

Seriously America, leave us alone. We can deal with our own criminals.

If the internet terrorism keeps increasing as it is they might mind themselves under a much greater threat after all their hardly being tracked by the best information security teams their dealing with regular terrorism currently.

I suppose, and it would be funny if these guys ended up being mongolian or something.

I suspect we believe our penalties are higher and that our interest where more impacted than British.
