No.

I'm not paying monthly to get the story I should have got in KoTOR3.
Entitlement, woo!!
It's not entitlement.

Imagine if the Half Life story suddenly got continued in a MMO - the only way you'd be able to find out is to pay monthly, and grind to find out what happens next. There would be an outrage!!

I don't like MMOs and I don't want to pay a monthly subscription fee to pour hours into a game I probably don't have enough time for, to continue the story of a single player game that ended on a cliff hanger several years ago.
As far as I could tell, the story isn't a continuation of KoTOR, it's just set roughly in the same period (and that's not saying much considering the timescale it's working with...)

Yes, I have it pre-ordered and can't wait. I've been feeling pretty burnt out on WoW recently, but I still enjoy the core gameplay. From what I've seen, TOR's gameplay is pretty much the same as WoW's, but the rest of the game looks much more interesting. Plus, my WoW subscription expires a few days after TOR releases, so I won't be paying two subscriptions. I think the only thing I'll miss about WoW is my guild, and, unfortunately, that's not enough to keep me playing.

MMO's aren't my cup of tea
Star Wars isn't my cup of tea

So from where I'm sitting, this game is completly uninteresting. I also can't believe people somehow want móre star wars, but that might be just me.

I already paid for the collectors edition, and I am enjoying the beta something fierce.

No, I believe the age of pay for play MMO's is over.
plus I don't want EA's Orwellian delivery system on my computer.

Also Star Wars is dead. The Old Republic is fans are just humping to corpse.

Nope. MMO gmaeplay just bores me now and the constant monthly fees make it too much on an investment when there's plenty of other GREAT games that I only have to pay for once.

Yes, Even got the collectors edition day one. I have never been more excited for a game since Metal gear solid 3.

Ill probably get it during the summer when I know that it wasn't a flop, and I have free time during weeknights.

No, I will not. Being a filthy and low Mac user who does not yet know how to partition off an area of his computer and load some version of Windows OS means that I will be unable to play TOR. Which is actually kind of a bummer, because I got invited to a weekend beta and was going to use that to see if I wanted to try it for a month. Guess not.

If your expecting something radically different from GW2... oh dear. Certainly the Eurogamer Expo demo that was playable wasn't that special or different.

To the people bitching about SW:tOR needing Origin... only if you buy it from Origin...

Oh? It's an MMO? I refuse to pay to play a game, after I already paid full price to buy it, pay more internet, and barely have any time to play.

Anyway, before I even knew that I wasn't going to buy it because it is a BioWare game, and after Dragon Age and trying to play Mass Effect, their games are way too bland and boring to even try and get into.

I know exactly how you're feeling, I'm in the same place right now ('except my guild just disbanded, from being 2nd 25 raiding guild on the realm... but oh well). I am interested in the Pandaria expansion, so I'm not giving up on WoW yet

And not even then. Even if you bought it through Origin (like I did) you don't need the program installed on your computer to download and play TOR.

I dare you to prove that GW2 will be really similar to WoW. Otherwise don't attack people for being excited for a certain game.

KotOR did not end on a cliffhanger, or at least, not an absurdly blatant one. KotOR 2 did introduce the idea of something happening in the background, but that's it. You analogy is also bull, as Old Republic's story starts out LONG after either of the two games, which followed each other by only a couple, if I recall. The real outrage in that case would be an MMO set after every major Half-Life character is DEAD. Everyone you knew from those games, with the possible exception of HK-47 are DEAD, their stories have long since ENDED.

Neither of the KotOR games necessarily needed a sequel. They had closure, but not in a way that warranted a sequel no matter what. Wanna revisit the ending of the games?

KotOR 1: Star Forge destroyed/kept, heroes celebrated/I'll be evil hurr-durr. End.

KotOR 2: You either become the new Dark Lord, or head out to look for Revan. This isn't necessarily a story that needs to be elaborated upon any further. Millions of stories ends up on such a note. You have closure for your companions, which makes the whole game a sense of curtains dropping as well.

Now technically, you COULD have a KotOR 3, since the world and events can still be fleshed out a lot, but in this regard, I don't mind the idea of turning it into an MMO. The story of the two games is OVER, or rather, ends with the very intro of TOR. I guess these are the "true Sith" Revan went to fight and they arrive, after a huge time gap.

No one's forcing you to play this and if you fear that you will not get the whole story, well, there's a crapload of supplemental material left for you to dive through. Comics, novels, whatever you wish and if you want to see the closure to the actual story of the two games, look up the new book that will finally reveal the end of Revan. That's it. The two games are centered around the actions and the consequences of Revan and as such their story arcs end once he's dead.

It's no more of an outrage that there's no movie of the Thrawn books, actually.

I said not to go expecting a radical departure from the formula that was laid down well before wow. Since I have played it i am offering anecdotal evidence in the form of personal experience of both games.

Well sir, you are one of the few people I've encountered who believe it isn't radically different in its design.

PS: Would you mind elaborating on your impressions (as I am quite interested in those) of the game through PMs, so that we do not de-rail the thread?

No cause I can't really get into MMOs I find it so hard to do and I don't feel like paying a monthly subscription.

No. Frankly, it looks like a bad mixture of WoW and KOTOR2. Graphics and "Innovative Conversation Options" from KOTOR, Interface and Gameplay from WoW. Wish this wasn't the case, but it is.
