Ok, I'm just going to throw this out there: http://www.freedominfonet.net/americans-killed-cops-now-outnumber-americans-killed-iraq-war/

If you have ever "SWAT"ed anyone you are, sincerely, one of the most dispicable human beings who have ever walked the face of the Earth.

The police aren't acting like a mafia hit squad when they respond like this, they are acting in defense of their own lives and those around them. They don't want to end up like the multiple murders that happen every year that involve cops responding to reports on more minor crimes, and get gunned down by panicking homeowners or criminals when they show up to a house and just knock on the door, they especially aren't going to take half measures if someone is reporting an active shooter in the vicinity.
I have no interest in your debate at large, but this is bullshit. In the entire year of 2013, only 105 police officers in the US died in the line of duty. Of those, 51 were accidents or disease. Only 30 were killed by gunfire total. These "multiple murders" that you're talking about do not happen every year. They happen virtually never. The same with police being "gunned down by panicking homeowners". http://www.odmp.org/search/year?year=2013

I'm pretty sure at the point of the video, the team knows the house is safe, and they're like, "God damnit. Not again. I totes wanted to bag someone."

"Maybe there's something cool under the bed?"

"Fucking Christ Morgan, it's 2014. Get back in formation, people don't have nudie mags under their beds anymore."

":<"

I'm absolutely certain, that if SWAT thought there was a threat, they would have cleared the room professionally, instead of strolling in. It's good to know that the prank call didn't involve anyone getting hurt.

Ashton Kutcher. I remember "swatting" becoming famous when he started to "swat" some celebrities on Punk'd. Because obviously calling a team of heavily trained, trigger-happy, dog-killing (seriously, these guys apparently have a "shoot on sight" mentality when they see a dog during a mission) paramilitaries just for the lulz is considered comedy gold by some people....
Ever since I heard of Punk'd, I've had mixed thoughts on wither or not Ashton should get his ass kicked. On one hand, he's acting like a child, on the other hand, most of his victims are celebs...

The reason for the views on the dogs is because Police don't know the attitude that the handler has given their dogs. As amazingly intelligent dogs can be when trained, dogs don't understand our social order. A properly handled dog will think, "Hey visitors! Wait, where's my handler? I think these people are intruders!" Wheras an untrained dog will think, "Hey! Intruders! I don't like these people! BARK!BARK!BARK!BITE!!"

And I'm absolutely certain Police already know how fast and vicious a dog is when it's been trained to attack, and not just jump and bark in someone's face. Any dog that's not a 4-legged purse is completely capable of killing a human. So, who should die? A human being that upholds the social order? Or a dog that barely understands it, or is taught to ignore it?

Meanwhile, cats hear the door getting broken into and they're like. "Ugh, fuck this. Loud noise? I'm buggin' out."

You shouldn't be calling the police on people in the first place.

Snitches are bitches that end up in ditches.

It sometimes surprises me how retarded some people can get to the point of calling the police because of losing a videogame, wait no... it doesn't surprise me at all.

Just like how most kids now are assholes and no one does a thing because "kids be kids".

So nobody's disgruntled with the fact that, in the US, if the police get a random call, from anybody, they consider it their right to raid your house armed? Really?

Ok.
I'm pretty sure if any country's cops got a call there was a guy in a house with a gun and people inside, they'd take it very seriously

As someone who owns 2 dogs I can honestly say that most breads of dogs, even one trained to attack, would do no damage to a swat team decked out in Kevlar vests. Their first response should not be to kill for anything. At most the team should be cautious with breads like pits or German Shepards. I think you overestimate the capabilities of modern day domestic dogs. From the sound of it you get your idea of dogs from fighting breads like pits.

That being said I have no idea what the policy is for swat teams and dogs and I really do find it hard to believe that they would just shoot any dogs they see. I really expect the lawsuits and Peta campaigns would be extraordinary if this were to actually happen.

I have always been under the impression that our police force and government are far to paranoid to make any kind of reasonable decision. In the age we live with the technology we have, it should be little effort to investigate a call in a manner that would benefit both the caller and the police. Most of these accidents could be prevented.

Sure, decked out in full kevlar, should the dog attack it may not cause much damage to the officer, but it can still screw the officer up, draw blood if it attacks in an unarmored area, mess up his stability. Even friendly pet dogs, can do a very, very good job of knocking someone over. Even a lab, just playing around, can knock over a full grown man and draw blood. Obviously, the man in question wasn't hospitalized, but what if there was a situation where there were shooting? You have a dog you can't do anything about messing up one out of four people, and that person can't respond to the threat. Stop fucking around, kill the dog.

I'm not saying that they should kill all dogs because they're ravenous blood-thirsty animals. They're not. They just don't understand and some will inevitably get in the way. Even though it's not a fighting breed, Dogs are still carnivores. They still have the instincts to survive and hunt, and when pressed they can still fight. If the dog looks like it's about to attack, SWAT has no choice in the matter. They're there to help people, not animals.

I'm not even gonna get started on PETA.

Furthermore, if police get a call about a shooting, they don't have time to call around and be like, "Hey, uhh. Your neighbor is reporting a shooting. This actually happening?" They needed to be deployed before that call even took place. They can't waste crucial seconds making double-checks, humming and hawing. They NEED to get there right away. Every second wasted is a second where someone could die, and that's kind of what they're trying to prevent.

The cops aren't paranoid. They're running on policies and drills based on older times when things were far more dangerous. Now that crime has gone down, we're seeing a lot more false alarms, the news is covering these raids more often. When these raids occur, SWAT is trained to intimidate, take out anyone or anything that looks like it could harm or kill someone, and arrest the rest for questioning. They're pretty much the last line Police have.

Hah. I'd think that access to a payphone would be the harder part now. Though I guess you don't need quarters if you're calling an emergency line.
