Oh, wait-- that's Switzerland? Ah. Nevermind then. I honestly forgot Sweden was even a country.

AGHHH!!!!! Swedish meatballs are from FINLAND..... Don't worry about it too much though, thats a common misconceptionElephantGuts said:So I was in math class today, thinking about anything other than math as usual, and I ended up thinking about Sweden. I think it started with LEGOS. Now, Sweden is a country I respect very much, and I think it is the country that has earned my respect the hardest, as in none of it came from predetermined opinions. Normally I wouldn't like a country like Sweden; it's a bit too Aryan for my tastes. You know what I mean. But I've only heard good things about Sweden. No history of anti-Semitism, or any widespread racism as far as I know. Unlike those damn Swiss, which for some reason are always mixed up with them. Yes, I'm one of the people who mixes up Sweden and Switzerland occasionally, but only in name, not identity, and I'm quick to realize my mistake.
But the main source of my respect for Sweden is its products. In math, I thought up what I call the Triumvirate of Swedish Awesomeness:LEGOS(innacuracy), DICE (the game developers), and Swedish meatballs. I like Swedish meatballs very much.
So I hope it's okay to make a thread like this, but I wanted to see some public opinions/fact gathering on Sweden. So, discuss.
PS: What's up with IKEA? It gets badmouthed a lot (GTA4's spoof on it was hilarious) but in reality I don't know whether to praise or criticize Sweden for it.
Are they? Really? That's interesting. If "Swedish" meatballs are from Finland, and Finland did rape Russia in that one war...hmm.Stormcloud23 said:AGHHH!!!!! Swedish meatballs are from FINLAND..... Don't worry about it too much though, thats a common misconception
P.S. this is what the alphabet would look like if q and r were eliminated
P.S.S Yes, I like Finland.... A lot...

I can't find a source for this anywhere (and I spent a whole three minutes looking).Stormcloud23 said:AGHHH!!!!! Swedish meatballs are from FINLAND..... Don't worry about it too much though, thats a common misconception

My favorite Swedish band right now, Amon Amarth! Viking metal FTW! Their new album is AWESOME, btw. Link for their 1st couple songs and 1st video from said album, http://www.myspace.com/amonamarthNegativ Solution post=18.76579.914864 said:Sweden has of course given us some damn fine fine black metal bands like Watain, Dissection, Ondskapt, Shining etc.
Was also responsible for most of the melodic death metal scene with bands like Dark Tranquility and At The Gates and continues to influence most new (and awful) bands these days e.g The Haunted, Arch enemy, In Flames and all those terrible American kids etc etc blah blah.
You probably won't... it's quite a well kept secret. And as for the company... The recipe is from Finland but sweden started mass production of them. This won't sway you but search meatballs on Wikipedia (I know, I know..) and look for swedish... they won't be there but they do have Finnish meatballsHSIAMetalKing said:I can't find a source for this anywhere (and I spent a whole three minutes looking).Stormcloud23 said:AGHHH!!!!! But the Swedish company Gunnar Dafgård AB is the world's largest producer of Swedish Meatballs... so... that's a fun fact for you.
No no! Not rapey. It's just a subtle thing... something about the way it suggests the womanis willing to submit to the man's will. Which I know is the opposite of what you meant. More than anything I just associate the term with lecherous old creeps, for some reason.AuntyEthel said:Hey, its not like I said unwilling but weak. Did that really sound rapey? Didn't mean it like that. Meant it in the way you put it.
Haha! I get what you mean now. Actually, even as a man, I still think we're the ones who ultimately submit to a woman's will when it comes to sex and relationships, in a very weird and subtle way.Fraser.J.A said:No no! Not rapey. Don't mind me, I'm a big old hyper-sensitive over-analytical lefty.
Amon Amarth is actually classified as viking-themed melodic death metal (according to wikipedia). And yes, they are awsome [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhptP8j-t-M]!Sirisaxman said:My favorite Swedish band right now, Amon Amarth! Viking metal FTW! Their new album is AWESOME, btw. I think you'll find that Swedish meatballs are, in fact, on wikipedia along with several others types of meatballs from all over the world.Stormcloud23 said:You probably won't... it's quite a well kept secret. That's what they classify themselves as, yes. I'm lazy, so I like to shorten it, cuz it's a bit of a mouthful.Kraukz said:Amon Amarth is actually classified as viking-themed melodic death metal (according to wikipedia). It is rather well known (or maybe not so well known) that Norwegians and Swedes have had a standing rivalry, although I don't know the origins of it. Maybe it goes back to the days of the Vikings where the two groups would compete for places to raid? If anyone knows, I'd be interested to know.neoman10 said:being Norwegian i hate swedes, so therefor damn them, damn them to hell
No we don't... Most of them looks like bimbos, blonde haired, giggling idiots...Syphonz said:Sweden has very beautiful women. hands down.
I think it has a nice and personal ring to it, but I do admit its alot of words for simply describing a musical style. Its quite fun to use for confusing the mainstream pop-listening sheep when they ask you what kind of music you like. "Im mostly into the viking-themed melodic death metal branch of the metal genre, how about you?"Sirisaxman said:That's what they classify themselves as, yes.
