Realizing Sudoku is incredibly boring
I like Sudoku...
Me too, I got addicted to it while in hospital, when high on morphine I decided it best if I wrote the number 8 absolutly everywhere. My obsession spilt out from the sudoku page up my arms... I would have sudoku'd my neighbour's face too if I wasn't hooked up to that morhpine machine.

This is why Mindstorm Lego is awesome. You can do everything with it. I bet you guys have checked out his other video on youtube by now, the Rubics Cube Solver. While I can do that in 1-3 minutes, the fact that he made a robot that can do it is impressive. Just as I can solve Sudoku, but making this robot is beyond awesome. Kudos to my Swedish neighbour!

Teddy gave me nightmares... But this seems like a waste of time, I mean, if you think Sudoku is boring, don't do it. Unless there was a Sudoku contest with a cash prize. :0

Edit: Not to say that legos don't kick serious arse however

I'm already waiting for the first lawsuit to arrive where they accuse someone for using robots to solve contest puzzles.

I wonder if we will still be making jokes about robots taking over the world in 1000 years.

On-topic: That's a neat application of technology. Makes me wish I did cool stuff like that rather than posting on a forum.

No, because in 1000 years we will all have transferred our consciousnesses into robots and walk around the parched earth asking each other if they remember what it used to be like before the seas boiled.

Without even looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics_of_Sudoku its obvious the programing behind it it EASY
It's just a matter of enumerating possible solutions for the blank space variants with grid analysis techniques derived from combinatorics and permutation group theory.
What's impressive about the robot is rigging the light sensor for the grid input.

Dam Lego Mindstorms is flexible. Other peoples videos have karts controlled by mobilephone and Wiimote via bluetooth, bridge-layers, boats, one completed SuperMario unaided!

I think it looks cool, there's a good online sudoku solver at sudoku solver [http://sudokusolver.info] it's not made of lego mind you, but works good, though I didn't like the sudoku is boring comment I might add.. ahem
