So this Friday at school my iPod got stolen along with my headphones. When I got home I realized that my pack had been rummaged through and that my iPod was gone.

Now there is someone I suspect, and I have found him on facebook (after further investigating, I'm pretty sure it's him, went through his wall posts and found numerous ones where he was selling phones and iPods and such, he's obviously got a history of this stuff). Give me some creative advice on how to 1)make sure its him 2) and set up a situation where I can get it back.

I've found his facebook and formspring, give me some creative ways to solve this situation. Realistically, I hope to get some evidence to show to school security.

Please Help!

I'm not sure I can help with your situation, other than:

1. Gain the ability to read minds.
2. Trap him into playing a children's card game with you. In the shadow realm.

Hmm. If you go for the FaceBook route, it will be difficult to seem genuine if you start things off right away by knowing he has an iPod; if he indeed has it, but sees someone coming on with that knowledge so quickly, he may back off or realize it's a trap. You have to be smooth about things like that. My advice though honestly is to see if you know anyone that he does, someone who could possibly tell you if he took it or not. I would search around with your friends for information to get a greater sense if this guy really did take it or not. :x

I hope this helps!
Yes I agree it might be tricky to do something like that.. I'm not going to do anything rash yet, I've only got one shot at this, but I don't want to wait too long and lose my opportunity.

Either tell the school that your highly suspect of this individual, or call the police. If it's your iPod then thats serious theft, and getting either of them involved is perfectly reasonable.

edit: also, I'd say that making a personal investigation via FaceBook or Formspring isn't really the best option - get the authorities involved asap is a better alternative.

Unfortunately, I'd need some of evidence of his guilt to contact the authorities. Which I don't. I'm hoping to get some through sleuthing. Either way, I will take it up with school security on Monday, but I'm not sure how much they will help me if I don't have much evidence.

I'd advise against any sort of revenge, it likely won't get you anywhere. You can either confront him, and ask him bluntly and let him know if he does not return your iPod/headphones you'll contact the school security. If this doesn't work, contact them anyway. If they can't or won't do anything about it, you could go to his parents. May seem like a 'tattle-tale' sort of method, but it's more likely to give you the results you want over any sort of revenge plan.

The fact that he seems to sell this stuff a lot via Facebook could be used as evidence against him, regardless of who you present it to. Good luck getting your belongings back.
