i searched a few pages and didn't find anything too similar to this so hopefully its searchbar proof

So discussion here is purely about past stories in your life where you have won/found/recieved something similar to the gaming culture

So ill start it off with some of my examples:

for my birthday quite a few years ago, back when the original xbox came out, mountain dew had a contest for a limited edition hulk xbox with the hulk game (their were only 50 of these ever made) and it happened so that, on my birthday, at about 10 o clock at night i was super thirsty so went down to my gas station on the corner and bought a mountain dew, and what do you know, won the sucker =]

i can't remember exactly but there was like a 1 in 33,000 chance of that happening or something of the sort, so i considered myself EXTREMEMLY lucky at the time, sad thing is i had just bought an xbox a few weeks before this with money i had saved it up so i ended up selling it to my cousin for a bit cheaper than i had bought it originally

another more recent story is on ffxiii midnight release, i was getting out of my car and a 50 dollar bill had been slightly shifted under my tire (obviously someone had dropped it, but who would honestly not claim it?) so i basically got that game for free that night =]

so discussion value here is to either, comment on other's stories, or share your own and reflect back on those lucky or good moments

I hate you so very much. I am so unlucky I make other people unlucky by proxy. A cat once ate a 20 dollar bill of mine...
haha i apologize, for my extremely lucky moments i do have my unlucky ones where its a massive "how the fu....what the HELLLL?!?!" and i end up buying something again 2 times till i get a non defective copy or somehow a cup of water gets kicked across the room and 2 drops of it hit my laptop and somehow almost ruined half of the screen (dont ask how or why this happened, i have yet to discover this myself)

oh man.
That's great.
I have "teasing luck".
Like in contests at school they would announce the winner and guess what, the winners first name was the same as mine.
It sucks.
I get so excited and then i hear their last name and.......downer.
and other things like that happens all the time when i enter contests.....

Hmm the only thing coming to mind right now is that way back when I pre ordered Zelda OoT but it was a "christmas present" from my parents so I had to wait a month after it's release to even play it. Finally christmas came and not only did I get the gold cartridge but I got a Zelda t-shirt with it because my mom was one of the first 50 people to pick up their preorder! That was great.

My cousin is super lucky, one example I can think of is he won a free Diddy Kong Racing game from Walmart by entering a totally random draw. Ohh and also this one is funny, he worked at Toys R Us for a little while when he was 16 and when he was quitting, there was some stupid shit going on or something. Anyway to spite them he wanted to use his employee discount before quitting so he just grabbed the first thing - these stupid ass "magic beans" that are just plastic beans with a picture/sticker on them. Well, lo and behold he opens it at home and finds in his bag there is the super rare "Mighty Moose". He went on eBay and sold the damn thing for a little over $300. S.O.B. lol.

I once won 9 euros on euromillions (had bet 10 euros that week, so I guess it doesnt count). Also won once a coffee on a MacDonald context, and this was 2 days ago.
Apart of that I usually have a strike of luck followed by a strike of bad luck.

I normally have good luck and when I don't I make my own luck, Once found a 20$ on the sidewalk! Oh and I have a talent for getting those parking meters that are broken and give you unlimited time.

The only thing i have won in the last few years was that copy of stargate resistance from the guys over at the stargate fan club. I think that used up all my luck for the coming months with that XD
Went to Mcdonalds the other week with some friends (they just started that monopoly thingy again) all of my friends won some kind of food or drink and all got was crap.

Umm, I think I only ever won one thing in my life. I filled out those little cards that come with Newtype magazine and won their monthly giveaway.

But I think I wasted my luck because I won an anime series from the 1980s that I had never heard of before. And there was a reason for that.

I consider myself lucky to have read that though. It made me laugh. :)
