The flu it's self kills more people a year and the world is getting worked up over WHAT?! For all we know it's just the CDC trying to get people to be more hygienic........ Like that will ever happen >_>
I did not know bulls have fins.

I guess the Dead Rising 2 promoters could not got to E3 because the Japanese government is freaking out about swine flu.

Just because it has a potential to become a pandemic and the appropriate measures to combat it are taken, and then it doesn't become a pandemic, doesn't mean it's a false alert or those measures were somehow inappropriate.

However, meadia has turned this very real threat into a kind of mass hysteria and the hype and rumours are kept on going. Media is milking money from a very real threat and in turn inadvertently spreading panic and sometimes even false information. They might not mean it, but that's the result.

It's fucking dead in the UK too, what most people didnt understand was that we can treat swine flu. so we had a predictable 3 day panic and then nothing

Why is it still called swine flu? It's H1N1. Anyway, why this was ever a fiasco I don't know, but everyone agrees it needs to stop.

The problem with Swine flue (H1N1) is:

The virus is a novel strain of influenza from which human populations have been neither vaccinated nor naturally immunized.
CDC.

This is why WHO is worried about this influenza.
Also it has the potential to mutate in to something worse.

Me and my friend scare people on the bus by sneezing, while discussing the work we did down at the farm, with the PIGS. We gets lots of worried looks, quite funny.

It died down here in the U.S pretty quickly, though I geuss some are still paranoid. I heard they closed all the schools in a district just because one kid had swine flu.
Currently, all kids that went to Victoria, can't go back to school in New South Wales and Queensland for a week, even if they were only there for 2 seconds. It's really getting out of hand and the government needs to grow some balls.
Australia really needs to stop jumping on bandwagons 3 months after said bandwagon ends.

Hi, I'm from Mexico, where it allegedly began.

back then when the initial reports were creeping in, people were not making any distinction between normal strains of influenza and the H1N1, so there were deaths that numbered in like a hundred when in reality there were fewer, a lot fewer. Then evetyone went batshit insane and called the country to a stop where people, at least for a week, didn't dare to set foot out of their homes other than to go get food, or go to work for fear of catching it, and if you turned on the radio there were people saying that they had it and that they were being refused treatment.

So, OP, you were quarantined for 4 weeks? We in Mexico were put in "high alert," so much that we self quarantined ourselves for more than a week.

Basically it was a mess, so yeah, I hear where you're coming from.

Oh, is THAT why the FCO is advising against all travel there? I haven't been bothering with the papers lately and just saw the advisory online.

Here, they still report it as Going To Kill Everythong, even when they're reporting that 80% of cases may be going undetected and unreported ... presumably because they're no worse than a slight cold.

Well, it's a change, anyway. When the Bliar was in Number Ten, any time the news was making him look bad the Metropolitan Police would go out and shoot some Brazilian electrician on a tube train for wearing a jacket or raid two foreign-looking guys' home at 2am, shoot one of them in the shoulder and plant child porn on their computer and mobile phone to distract attention from the fact the government knew perfectly damn well that September Dossier about Saddam's WMD was a bag of bollocks and he had NOTHING, or whatever else was coming to light and making Tony look like a slimy, machiavellian megalomaniac with a fetish for POTUS so strong he morphed into poodle with three tongues at the first syllable and religious fundamentalist crusader-type tendencies normally associated with ill-advised invasions that caused millions of people to flee their homes amid massive bloodshed and huge damage to the economies, infrastructure and quality of life in the region.
