SyFy Casts Skins Star For Battlestar Galactica Prequel

Although this is a little early to be judging, I don't really see this guy as Adama (yet), I thought the guy from Razor was perfect. He just seems too...well, pretty. I mean, even in Caprica Adama was hanging out with the Tauren mafia AT THE AGE OF FIFTEEN. I'd expect him to be a bit scarred and tougher-looking at this age, Adama has always seemed like the kind of man who made a lot of mistakes when he was young, and gained a lot of wisdom as a result. Also, I'm hoping for a young Saul Tigh to show up, if that happens I'll...well, this:

Why do I get the feeling Adama is going to be a generic pretty-boy with a chip on his shoulder and NO RESPECT FOR THE RULES!!! The show will be filled with teen angst, generic sexual situations, and explosions.

I've seen Luke Pasqualino act before, and he's a pretty damn good actor, definitely one of the UK's newer hotly tipped stars of the future. So it's certainly a good casting choice, if somewhat different to playing a weed-smoking teenager like his Skins character... good luck to the lad, I say, and hopefully he'll be able to bring his acting talent to the forefront and help keep Blod and Chrome out of the meddling hands of executive retards...

I'm really pleased to hear that the kid can act. I saw the picture, and all I saw was a boy that looked like one of my ex girlfriends (one of the really dyke-like kinds). He's a very pretty kid, which will resonate with the hipsters, I'm sure. That bothered me. Edward James Olmos played a battle marred old man. Far from his prime, and ugly (not really ugly- but extremely well-rugged, if that makes sense). Something needs to happen to this kid, besides age, to muss up that pretty face of his before I'm okay with him being an Adama.

Don't waste your time - he isn't in the good Skins (series 1 and 2), he's in the shitty second generation. Not worth watching, TBH, and I don't remember the kid being particularly notable. I'm more interested in who they'll get to play young Tigh, frankly!

IMO if they are going to mess with the property, I think they should work on a sequel set after the evolution on the new world. Since we all know how this is supposed to work despite the high note, it would actually be kind of interesting if they used that audience knowlege of the "this has happened before, it will happen again" thing to have someone derail the entire process, break the cycle, and restore free will so to speak.

Can't see it working, to be honest. I mean, it'd just be a repeat with minor changes, like the ending of the Dark Tower; each time we go around the same loop, hoping to get a better ending.

Besides, what free will is there when every significant event is manipulated by "angels"? Everything in the show goes according to some divine plan, and I can't see how they'd break out of that.

I think the show was always a little too smart and not action-oriented enough to appeal to the average viewer and really have a long run.

SyFy: Catering to morons with giant snakes and aligators fighting.

They may have decided it was cheap enough to do, they probably still have all the CG elements on a disc somewhere and I bet most of the sets are still in good enough condition to be re-used. Still, SyFy being SyFy will figure out how to jump the shark before series 1 is over.

I'm sure that if it were possible, and you could watch a reality show of Hitler (the last "real" bad guy our of our world), you would see that he was just as inept while at the same time, just as scary as he ever was. It's when you don't know anything about something that it truly is scary.

I know that Hitler himself was kind of a moron in the militaristic sense (at least towards the end of the war), and that the Allies really only won (at least as quick as they did) because he stopped listening to his generals. This is a known fact, and makes him a little less scary. But that just proves the point that the more you know about something, the less scared you are of it.

That's exactly what bothered me. I liked Cylons when they are all creepy and mysterious. (exactly why I like the concept art) The plan kinda ruined a lot of mystery I would spend ages scratching my head over. Good scratching. I totally agree with your point and the fact Cavil blew his head off in the last episode really backs it up. He was a despotic little child, like pretty much all modern dictators

SyFy: Jumping the Sharktopus since 2009.

The heart of BSG is the question "What does it mean to be human?". The main series pulled this off very well even in its weakest moments. If they can't follow that theme or explore a different one just as well, then the show fails.

Maybe I just prefer the OLD BSG, but the new one just.... didn't really bring up that question. It was more of a question of "What does it mean to be a robot that's confused about being human?"

Yeah, I was watching Caprica - it was just building to an awesome action-packed third season when they fucked it. Screw 'em, not planning on watching Blood n Chrome until it's finished a full season and has a second confirmed - I've been burnt too many times getting invested into TV shows that start out fantastically then just get binned :/

Oh, I know it's common - am I meant to be blaming someone or not? I think I can, and I will; blame TV execs for not catering to my needs Now, Buffy was a series: 7 seasons of awesome, with some seriously fun episodes thrown into the mix. Lost, BSG, Prison Break - tehre are plenty that ran the course, but far too many promising ones are canned :/
