Tactics? What tactics?

I got fed up with all the fiddly strategies my friend was attempting in Rainbow Six Vegas 2, so I grabbed a Tactical Shield, a Raging Bull magnum, and charged.

We ended up tearing through the rest of the level in record time.

The element of surprise, hitting the enemy with a strong force in a weak spot, and attacking a center of gravity (the specifics of which will vary from game to game) are universally applicable. Sometimes this manifests as the early-game rush; other times, in vertical envelopments. I am a big fan of using quick-transport features to move a powerful force behind the enemy lines; in the days of Red Alert this meant teleporting an APC full of Tanyas into the enemy base and C4ing every power plant in sight, in Starcraft it means Arbiter-warping a bunch of dragoons into the middle of his harvesting area, in WiC I had a lot of fun using air-mobile infantry.
Nonetheless, I still find heavy artillery- in any game- very satisfying. It's never gotten old. Not in C&C, not in CoH. Not in the Battlefield games. I effing love indirect fire.

the only tactics i've ever imployed in games are Starcraft and Cossacks (I'm really behind on the RTS scene)

my Starcraft strategy: Build photon Cannons, lots of them, stop them from gaining any entry into my base, well at least any EASY entry into my base.

My Cossacks strategy: Steal their peasants in a bid to make the best sea units for cheap, thus making me ruler of the sea.
Oh god you played that broken, broken game as well!
I don't know which one you're refering to, but if it's Cossacks then "hell yeah i did/stil do..."
yeah, thats cossacks.... haha do you get teh glitch where you r troops who are in formation will wonder off towards the enemy base?

In BF2: Special Forces, me and my best friend have a tactic: I distract with spray and pray bullets, he blindsides with an ATV covered in C4. And he jumps off the ATV detonating simotaniusly, sometimes killing himself in the process.

This hilarious tactic works 7/10 times when trying to capture a new point. Terrorism has it upsides at times.
Pure bad-assery. I give you a 9/10 for that one.
Jihad trucks are fun, but alot of servers have banned the tactic cause it is bloody frustrating when it happens to you.

L4D tactics for surivors: just stay together, for infected, except in a few very context specific places (like wall jumping around in alleyways), its always just wait for them to split themselves up or get boomered.
In COD4 I would always lose in head on battles, but in small servers (5-10 people) I could shine by always have a stun nade and a shotgun, and some damn good guesswork as to where they'd be.
In RTS games its always deny the enemy resources at first, then try to sit back and turtle

Ahh yes, artillery, satisfying and incredibly useful. If possible I always like to soften my targets with indirect fire before going on the attack, seems like the authentic strategy to use, especially when playing a WWII game.

No, i've never encountered that glitch, I expect perfect order and Discipline from my troops at all times.

Or people encounter "the plague" otherwise known as "Select > Delete"

My tactic for getting all the bounties in Mercenaries = locate enemy camp, confirm location of target, run like hell through hail of gun and rocketfire, knock out and cuff target, then retreat to a safe distance and eliminate all resistence with any and all means, then collect the bounty.

On the other hand, when it comes to playing Rome: Total War, tactics are essential, no question, Overwhelming numbers and brute force mean almost nothing

The best stratagem is adaptation. If you can change and adapt to what ever happens while continuing to complete your goals then defeat will never meet you.

I believe in the element of surprize. For example in COD4, if i'm playing on the map Ambush (usually HC SND), at the start of the round i leg it straight to the sewer tunnels and i'm behind the enemy before they could say 'behind you'. Same with Crossfire (or any map really). I take out all the campers, and most of the attackers heading towards my team and the best thing is that i can keep pulling the same thing off every round because people are stupid. Sometimes i approach from the other side just to mix things up a little.
Ahh good ol' Hardcore Search, I love it so. Oh and thank you for the new strategy. Much appreciated. Never thought of that. Because I'm usually stupid and crazy by myself hah, I end up dead quite a bit.

Tactics? We don't need no stinkin' tactics. Well, at least I don't. Or, I'm too lazy to, or I don't like planning for something just to have it all go to hell when things fall apart. Especially when planning with real people, because SOMEONE will do something wrong. Someone will ALWAYS do something wrong. I prefer doing it alone, and if in teams or in a free-for-all, I usually go stealth.
If going against a CPU, I go berserker.

Depends, really. I like to avoid a stand up fight in games I'm new to, but games I consider myself good at I won't. If I'm playing paintball I usually dive into the snake off the break for speedball, and for woodsball trying to get as close as possible before shooting. (Either without them noticing or very, very quickly.) In paintball most of my tactics are tailored to my marker, a stock class Phantom. (A pump for those who don't know.) Ex. instead of trying to futilely longball them, I like to try and get close before shooting. That's either without being noticed for an easy elimination/barrel tag, or drawing my opponent into a snap battle.

That would explain the avatar...
The MLRS units in WiC are my favorite. Looks so right.
