Ok what tactics have certain games taught you that have helped you in some other aspect? like life or other games?

for example and of course my answer.

Guild Wars GvG had taught me that combining damage from several characters at once can form a spike of damage, this has helped me in games such as Gears of War when you pop out of cover for a moment and focus on 1 single target to score a kill, or even other games like Halo to kill steal.

Another tactic being snaring targets, to prevent their movement or use with the core group, or time killing to essentially lessen the time they play in game, preventing their presence from being useful. this was another tactic in Guild Wars, to prevent select positions and win games, i've used it to let character bleed out in Gears of War (make their respawn last 15 seconds longer (depending on bleedout duration)), but i still have yet to work out the respawn clock on Gears.

So please share your experiences.

That 10 second timing minigame in Majora's Mask helped me immensely when I started playing UFO Catchers in Japan.

I'm sure there's more, but it's too ingrained for me to notice.

Gunship 2000 taught me to fly low and hide behind hills to avoid radar. This tactic can be used in many situations such as shoplifting where you can crawl on the floor and hide behind cornflake boxes to avoid being caught by store detectives.

I was taught one thing by Battlefield BC. If at first you dont succed get a bigger gun. If that dosn't work get an even bigger gun. And if that dont work just keep shooting the hell out of the building till someone comes out.

I have great dexterity in my fingers from playing lots of Geomatry Wars and I think it helped with plucking the strings on my guitar. Also it helped me adjust to shoot-em-up games alot faster since most of them are the same.

Gears of War taught me the value of cover, which I almost always try to use now in every other shooter I play :)

The constant suspense and paranoia provoked from Resident Evil has allowed me to play war games and other survival-horror genre games more cautiously. In real life I feel as though it's impacted me in a more metaphorical sense. It's made me "watch my back", instead of plunging into situations recklessly. But in a more literal sense when "adventuring" into new or foreign neighborhood and areas in the real world I've developed better street smarts, and judgment. This was through my gaming experience of creeping around abandon shacks unaware of what could possibly jump out and make me have to start all the way back at the beginning.

So in your face to whatever obnoxious mother said video games rots kids' brains!
