Good Lord, 20%.

I'm a casual D&D player, but I've only dealt with 3.5 rules. Even then, I constantly had to ask questions...
Maybe trying to take this quiz was a bad idea.

Okay the impossible one was WAAAAY easier because it just requires d&d lore knowledge rather than a working knowledge of an edition that was obsolete 20+ years ago.

90% 1st time through on Normal, took all 4 tries to get the Magic-User question right (my 1e PH is packed in the garage or I'd have grabbed it.)

50% 1st time through on Impossible, the Hit Dice & Hill Giant questions hung me up the longest.

Nice to see some recognition for the 1e days. Gary & Dave may be gone but their legacy will live on 1d20+forever.

The Impossible quiz was easier than the normal quiz. Some of the normal quiz answers were HARD.

100% on normal on try #4. I'm really hoping there's a badge for this. If not, well, it was still fun. I'll report back once I beat Impossible...

Eh, the question on the basic quiz concerning "hitting automatically for 1d6+1" being magic missile is wrong. It's 1d4+1 per missile. Get it right!

Playing Basic D&D, I have just hit my target automatically for 1d6+1 damage by:

No in Basic D&D(Red Box), Magic Missile is 1d6+1 not 1d4+1. Magic is actually most always more powerful across the board in the earlier editions before they started nerfing it in 2nd.

I did considerably better on the Impossible Quiz, mostly because I know more DnD Trivia than I do facts about any edition prior to 3rd. I found THACO so off putting I played Palladium games instead... which is a terrible, terrible thing.

Apparently I'm a good guesser at everything but which character class wasn't available until AD&D, because damn if the regular quiz was chock full of details I've never had to learn because I never played 1st Edition. Knew some of the answers because it was basic D&D trivia of course. Still, even with 4 tries (for the SAME question because I picked the wrong answer the first 3 times), I managed 7th place on the leaderboard (for now), so yay.

I successfully managed to avoid every single correct answer on the normal quiz! Hurray! I... er... completely meant to do that. Yeah, I really did. I knew all the answers and made sure I had them all wrong.

Don't judge me!

*EdiT* I got accidentally got 3 correct answers with the harder one. That's strange.

Ah, Basic. We're all old school AD&Der's, it's always been 1d4+1. My bad.

I move that, on March 4th, the 1st anniversary of Gary Gygax's death, we all carry our dice with us in his memory. Who thinks this is a good idea?

You should try another one on 2E and 3E ;)
I completely agree with this. Even on the Normal quiz, most of the questions were about 1st Edition. If there were a quiz on AD&D 2nd Edition (my favourite), I think I would do very well. As it is, having never played 1st Edition, I only got 50%.

I never really got what was so bad about THAC0. I'll admit, having a low armour class provide more protection than a high one is weird, but it's not a serious problem, in my opinion.
