Just got back from seeing Taken. I heartily recomend this film if you like more thoughful actiony-type thrillers. Liam Neeson plays an ex-CIA "Preventer" who has retired from The Company to be closer to his daughter, now living with his ex-wife and her new husband.
When is daughter asks his permission to go on a trip to Paris with her friend (she needs his permission, as she is under 18) he has severe misgivings, but eventually relents.
When she gets there, she is kidnapped whilst on the phone to Neeson, who's search for her and her kidnappers is a frantic, often brutal romp through the white slavery trade.
Neeson is throughly convincing through out the many fight sequences, and the sound and visuals add to the viscerality of them. At times harrowing, Neeson's quest for his missing daughter will keep you on the edge of your seat.
As my friend described this film:
"Liam Neeson fucks up EVERYBODY."
