I recently purchased a copy of "Fractured" a 2008 lucasarts title I remember reading a little about back in the day never really got a chance to play as I didn't have my xbox yet so I forgot about it until I found it in the bargain bin at gamestop the other day. $8 and some of the most fun with a game I've had in awhile, the terraforming physics add a fun extra dimension to a decent third person shooter of the "Halo" tradition. Add in a copy of Quake 4 for $4 and I call that a very successful trip to the game store.

What about you escapists? What gems have you dug out of the bargain bin?

The first game I ever bought out of a bargain bin was Legend of the Dragoon for 15.99$ when I was younger. Best 16$ I ever spent.

I absolutely hate JRPGs.... but goddamn I love Legend of the Dragoon lol, that game was awesome. If it wasn't for all the trouble of digging up a used playstation in the name of only one game I'd probably buy it.

There's a whole lot of games I've found on Amazon that are ridiculously under priced.

For one, I recently found New Vegas for 12 dollars in great condition.

Another recent purchase would be Resonance of Fate for 16 USD also in great condition.

I just bought The Darkness for 5 bucks recently, but I already knew I loved that game. I once picked up Oni on the PS2 for 4 dollars, having only played a brief portion of the demo. When Hollywood Video closed down, I went by and bought Bionic Commando, Fuel, and The Club, all for about 12 bucks. I think my favorite gem was Omega Boost for PS1 though; that game was straightforward, simple fun.

Several system generations ago a local video game store was selling off thier games and this one RPG for the ps1 called Shadow Madness I had never heard of before caught my eye. It was only $3 so I took a gamble. I'm probably one of only a dozen or so people that not only played but beat that game. It had a good story, interenting characters and some really inovavative things that I've never seen since (Like the ability to dodge enemies on the world map just by pushing a button to crouch when you heard them and an item that would distroy the world and give you a game over after a cut sceen.) However it had the most frustrating, broken item system I've ever seen in a game of any kind. Perhaps if I had payed full price for it I would have hated it and never finished it but for just the price I paied it became a hidden gem that I still remember fondly. It was the only game I've ever played where the big bad is not a moster or an evil warlord but an idea if only the game had been a bit more polished.

Sounds fascinating! Sigh... it's stories like that almost convince me to go get a PS1 and start working through some of the catalog I missed out on.

going back to the old gaming generations I picked up some game I'd kinda heard about for $10-15 bucks a title called Pokemon Yellow, it was the "old" Pokemon generation at that point but man it was so much fun to my brain at that time and because it was cheap and used it was the first game I ever bought for myself out of my own pocket money. (I saved up and did extra chores for a couple months lol) I think I actually ended up wearing that cartridge out.

Metal Gear solid 2 for £3 and a new Bioshock disk for £8. Christ I love my work sometimes.

Oh and I found the entire Alfred Hitchcock DVD collection for £10.
