I think you should either get a mega shark or a giant octopuss. OH! or maybe you could put one on each fist and have them fight to entertain at parties.

Enjoy your regret as a middle aged man.

Your roots?

Are you of Maori heritage?

Because if not, New Zealand isn't really where your roots are.

I kid, I kid.

I don't know if that design would be suitable for a tattoo though. Something simpler would be better, in my humble opinion. Something like the fern leaf of the All-Blacks would be pretty cool, I'd say.

I kinda like it, it's different. Though the shape may distort over time. If you're unsure then maybe it isn't for you, and you should wait until you find something you really love and will be happy with for many a year to come.

You could always take the "Made in New Zealand" and bring it to whoever you decide to have do your ink and play around. They're artists after all. Have them play around with it, add their own flair, discuss your interests in art and designs and doodle a bit until you come up with an idea you like. Personally, I have ink on my right calf of a skull wearing a chef's toque and holding two knives in its teeth, done in the slightly simple jolly roger style. I talked to my artist and told him that's what I wanted and he drew it up, even incorporating the knife I use at work into the design, chip in the handle and broken tip included. I'll try to put up a picture later. But yeah, the point of my ramble is to say that even if you have an idea like the "Made in New Zealand", tweak it a bit to make it your own. Have fun, and if you get inked, welcome to the dark side, mate!

Eh, a manufacturing brand...?

Whatevs, it's your tattoo. If i wanted to show my heritage (Well, i am half kiwi) i'd get a tattoo of the country. New Zealand's quite a good tattoo for the arm, if you ask me.

Kiwi would probably be too cliche, i don't know. read my post in the patriotism thread.

Just make sure it's something you and especially your loved one doesn't mind staring at for the rest of your life. If you find it bland now, fourty years from now it's going to be really disappointing.

I was just kidding, it doesn't matter.

But I was thinking of the fern in black, with something like "New Zealand" written under it.

Just a thought though, it's up to you in the end.

I hate that saying, and similar ones. It always seems like the person is arrogant, lording over the pleabs who would dare think in any other way then them themselves do.

I see it as being the opinion of a fickle minded trend groupie who cannot have the same tastes from year to year because they have to like the newest dribble thrown out by the popular bands.

I got my first tattoo 9 years ago. I still like it, and I have a feeling I will still like it 20 years from now. Advances in inks mean they do not bleed as much, and there is much less fading. All in all, I see no reason a person who holds out and gets exactly the tattoo they wanted, in th style they wanted would really regret it. A tattoo does not have to be tribal, or the fuzzy blob on the old biker. It can be a work of art.

If you're only going to be satisfied with something noone else has done, you could be in for a long and dissapointing search.

I'm seriously offended by that baseless insult. What the hell gives you the right to assume that I'm some kind of vapid indie kid?

What indication have I given that I'm lording it over anyone, or dismissing any opinion that's not my own? I was just kidding, Fucking hell, I even stated that I was kidding.

If you'd looked at the favourite artist list on my profile you'd have seen that your second paragraph was pure bullshit.

If you're going to insult someone, at least make the accusations accurate.

Oh the attitude. Where does it come from. I said that "It always seems like" and "I see it as." Those where not definite statements but my opinion spiced with a little constructive critisism. Oh and that last word you quoted was a typo, it was supposed to be brands. Heh, I was wondering where the indy kid statement and bit about the artist came from.

I would have directed the comment at you and actually insulted you if I intended it to be an insult.

Like this (except this is not an insult): Your over reaction makes you seem like you are trying to compensate for something. Lighten up and realize not everyone is out to get you.

I'd do some more research on dutch symbols, or images that have some sort of meaning to them that you agree with/admire.
Have it mean something to you since you're going for a heritage related image.

There are a lot of things that have already been done before. A tattoo artist can incorporate different things in the image to make it unique and different for you. Heck, anyone who is slightly artistic can do that. So shop around and pull different things that you like. Get some ideas, figure out which one you like the most and get the idea down so you can have someone else draw it, or you could do the design yourself.
I have drawn my own designs if I knew what I wanted, and had the guys that I worked with draw up some designs as well.

Get the basic idea down, and go from there.

Ok, I misunderstood part of your post, and I overreacted, and I'm sorry about that.

However, you did say that I seemed like a "fickle minded trend-groupie".

I know you didn't directly say that I was one, but you did imply it. I really don't think it was called for.
