Tattoos in the Forces

Does anyone know what the British Army are like about tattoos?
I'm asking because I'm looking to get some tattoos, but I'm also looking to join the Army and I want/need to know if they'll give me hell or not.

They don't mind it

Sorry I don't have any, I wanted one but decided I didn't want to mutilate myself. Just my opinion on tattoos, I do know there are some artistic ones but it really creeps me out

Ive got a mate who hasnt got any reason for this reason. His dream is to get into the RAF, but they are funny with tattoos. They dont mind aslogn as they are covered. Saying this, tattoos on the bicep and above are acceptable (or what ive heard). Reason for this beign that the shirts cover it over. Any on the forearm is deemed unacceptable.

I was planning to get them on my back/shoulder anyways.

They don't seem to mind although you may want to keep them 'coverable' at all times. (Remember short sleeve order in summer).

As an aside I know a lot of soldiers get their blood type tattooed on their upper arm....
