In my first period class multimedia web design we are working on Flash and she plays no role in the class. She just tells us to open the book and work on the problems the she goes on her computer and does whatever she wants. She does not work through the problems with us and when I asked for help she tells another student to help me. The entire class is in different parts of the book and we have no set assignment for the day. When we have a practice test she grades them then tells us to memorize the problems.

This is not how I think a teacher should teach I think they should give assignments that the whole class works on and should walk the student through the lesson so they can understand it and then let them test their skills by themselves. These are my thoughts on how this type of class should be taught I have different thoughts on how other classes such as math, history, etc.

Also this class is important to me because I want to get into the game industry.

What should I do and what are your thoughts?

If you hate it so much, then drop the class. Different teachers have different styles, so either confront them about it (Which will probably just piss them off, in my experience), deal with it, or leave.

Complain to her boss, the Principle, Administrator, or whatever they're called these days.

Nothing you can do really, not unless the entire class complains, which you should, because a subject is only as interesting as a teacher makes it.

Reminds me of my awesome Criminology lecturer at university. That crazy Irish bastard was hilarious and an amazing teacher.

I've had lecturers like that. I recommend going to the head of year or whatever. Whoever this teacher's boss is, tell them. Be prepared for nothing to happen though.

Maybe talking to the other students in the class is a good idea. The head can't ignore the problem if the majority of the class feels the same way.

EDIT: Fuck...Ninja'd like a *****.

She gives you the tools you need to survive and then lets you sink or swim based entirely on your own resources, skills and initiative. Sounds to me like perfect training for any industry, especially one as cut-throat and mean-spirited as gaming. Roll with it, she's doing you a favour, even if she doesn't know it.

That is very true thanks. That was what I was planning to do and even if I do not learn everything from her I was planning to take a more advanced Flash class outside of school later.
