$100? Plus the cost to ship it out of Gunmerica to Raintannia it's really not worth that much. If they were hand crafted from only the finest of materials on the thighs of a beautiful maiden and came with beta access to Half-Life 3 then maybe. I'm actually a little suprised there wasn't already a TF2 chess set though.

$100? Holy shit, no.

I'd probably go as high as $20, since I bought a Creeper plushie for, like, $30ish, but $100 is way too much, even for you, Valve.

It's a cheeky product, but damn, they do know their audience.

There are 8 non-pawn pieces on each side. There are 9 classes in TF2.

Which class would YOU leave out of the game?
Why the spy of course. You can't have a chess game where the pieces run around changing colors all the time.
trick question. they're ALL spies.

in any case, i don't think snipers are sporting in chess

If it was made of red and blue steel maybe. But 100% for plastic pieces? Heck handcrafted wooden chess sets don't cost 100$!

30$ is the absolute MOST I would ever pay for plastic chess pieces shaped as video game characters. However they ARE modular so you can actually shift the pieces around any way you like it... so maybe 35$ because you basically get 2 pieces more than in a regular set.

Plus for collector's items, especially stuff for popular brands like this, scarcity helps maintain the value of owning it. This is why I'm okay with video game memerabilia being, in general, stupidly overpriced. The people who own it tend to be people who actually care about it, so it really means something.
Yes, and by moaning about how we can't afford it, we emphasise the value of the item OH GOD I AM NEWELL'S SALES DRONE.

Look ThinkGeek, I get it. You make really cool stuff involving really cool stuff I like, but $100 is way too expensive! Stop being so expensive! I know that geeks are supposed to have a lot of money, because we're geeks and stereotypes are now fact (or is that nerds), but I'm fucking poor. Come on, work with me here!
Most fair and accurate response ever.

Of all time.

I just got this picture in my head of a chess game, and suddenly the king comes alive and yells
"SPY'S SAPPIN' MAH HORSE!"

Now if the pieces came alive like that, then yeah it would be worth $100.
