Team Fortress 2 Download Problem

So I just bought and downloaded TF2 off of their official website. However, everytime I try to play it a message pops up saying that it is unavaiable.

How do I play my game?

Tried rebooting or restarting Steam? Don't see this a lot but it isn't a chronic problem.

Edit: Perhaps the game isn't fully updated and your download permission is set to OFF, therefore being unable to boot the game?

Go into your steam folder and delete the clientregistry.blob file. Open up steam and it will download the latest steam update and you should be able to play your game

The game is already fully updated because right before I downloaded the game I made sure to download Steam

Have you tried deleting the cleintregistry.blob? As this causes a lot of steams problems.

EDIT - Also please check TF2 is set to auto-update, right-click it on your steam games list, goto properties, then updates, then check it is set to "always keep game up to date"
