In response to his points:

Sometimes you DO want a cartoon instead of a real life looking shooter, just for fun.
MW2 doesn't have more variety (I don't think), if you add in the unlocked weapons, maps, achievments that have been added to TF2.
And if he thinks playing a spy is easy, make him do it, and laugh when he dies all the time.
The sniper can be annoying (Though it's usually me doing the annoying), but what's worse is when there are a big group of enemies coming towards you, and you can do nothing to stop yourself being killed.
The Engineer, they aren't annoying at all. Get their sentry when it's level one, or sap it, or just snipe it from a distance.
So, the three classes are all very balanced, and don't annoy the shit out of everyone.
I think your friend might be a bit badly informed here.

Oh, one more note, MW2 has probably some of the worst multiplayer I've ever seen.

Of course, all that's from a biased point of view.

The style used in TF2 prevents it from aging. While MW2 may look old and ugly in 3 years from now due to advancing technology, TF2 will stay TF2 due to it's unique style. It's also humorous, and it never takes itself very seriously. Also, less douchebags, deathcam , fun unique classes ( <3 spy), funny taunts (prevent tbagging) etc etc. It seems that while the game looks 'cartoony', the audience is more mature. Or perhaps that's just true in the servers I visit.

I did MW2 on the XBOX360 for about 15 minutes. For a 'realistic' game , that riot shield sure does reflect a hail of bullets.

Although I personally prefer MW2, which generally makes my opinion invalid on these forums, I've gotta say that that's a VERY biased selection of arguments. MW2 can be a lot of fun, if played with the right people. Not everyone who plays it is a 12 year old retard

The Xbox 360 version of TF2 allows 8 players per team.
Close enough.
It's still pretty poor compared to the higher capacity dedicated servers of the PC version.

Although both are enjoyable, TF2 is the better game overall, I think. Less immaturity on the part of the community, greater balance, seriously awesome visual style... and that's to say nothing of Infinity Ward's embarrasing matchmaking system and lack of dedicated servers.

(Also, hello! This thread broke me... I've been watching the forums for a while but couldn't resist registering an account to add my two cents.)

Personally I agree with you. I was just curious what other people thought on the subject.

To be fair, I actually agree with him about Snipers and Spies being *potentially* annoying. The Snipers that just stay in one specific spot where the only legitimate counter is to then attempt to go Sniper and snipe them annoy the crap out of me. And when I'm playing an Engineer, I can't stand the Spies that will just walk up to me using the same one disguise, sap my Sentry, then expect me to not realize I should kill him *then* remove the sapper. On the other hand, I honestly love it when a Spy backstabs me as an Engineer and then is immediately gunned down by my Sentry gun. Hilarious.

I would've had a less biased selection of arguments if their HAD been a less biased set of points to select. That was honestly the entire discussion as far as I can remember.

Don't you get sniper rifles in MW2 aswell though?

But yeah, when you stand in a place that's impossible to get to, that is a bit annoying, so I always try to stand somewhere accesible to everyone else, so as not to ruin the game's spirit.

Personally, whenever I kill someone in MW2, it feels cheap. When I kill someone in TF2, I actually feel like I achieved something.

TF2 on consoles never get's updated or patched so it might as well be the same game that was shipped
We didn't get the new guns or maps, true, but we have had I think four patches since the game's release, so that's not nothing.

and the community is non-existent on consoles you'll have a more successful time finding an online match for the PS2 port of Deus Ex.
This is also not true. There's still many people playing it and you can always find a game.

I'm talking about the Xbox 360 version by the way, I don't know about the PS3 version.
I only own a PS3 and PC...

I never said that MW2 didn't occasionally have a similar problem (that was my friend). I was just saying that it can get annoying, especially at 2Fort which is my favorite map, to be sniped no matter where I go. And as far as standing in a place that's accessible, I think that's incredibly honorable of you. I usually try to move around as much as possible. I'll go somewhere, snipe someone there, then change locations entirely as soon as possible. It both confuses some opponents who don't realize I'm not a camping ***** like they would be were they sniping, and it means I can get into places that you wouldn't expect a Sniper to be.

Personally, I prefer MW2 mainly because it has a main campaign. TF2, as far as I know, is multiplayer only. However, I do play TF2 quite a bit. And enjoy it, as much as I enjoy MW2.

Personally, I think GTA An Andreas is better than both. I've gotten more hours out of that than either games put together and multiplied by four.

While I don't hate Modern Warfare, one of the biggest reasons I don't play it is how easily you die.

Give me a healthbar over instant death anyday.
^^This.

But i have to say that its really hard to compare both the games, sure they're both FPS's, but they are two completely different ways of going at it. It's like comparing KOTOR and Oblivion, same premises.

Modern Warfare was a good game. Modern Warfare 2 took a lot of the good stuff from the first game and added the shittiest stuff from HALO to create a "meh" shooter. I always prefered Timesplitters to Halo any day of the week, and Team Fortress riminds me of the tongue-in-cheeck not-to-serious approach of Timesplitters.
Team Fortress 2 all the way!

I've never really been a big fan of GTA and all its buddies. For me, they're fun. But only for about twenty minutes of mindless destruction that you only bothered to save after the opener so you didn't have to watch it again to do mindless destruction later. Besides that, never really saw the appeal.

Alright, yeah. Yeah, from what I've heard the PS3 version has even less stuff than the 360 version, because it was produced by EA instead of Valve, apparently.
