Add Double-Fine for script and character development (though, Valve and Ico are already awesome at that). The world would likely devour itself; something that awesome cannot exist.
I'm not quite certain what to debate. Questionable if it would be good or not, given the diverse developmental nature of the companies. Imagine a horror author teaming up with a playwright to compose a romantic comedy. Not saying it'll be bad, just saying iffy at best.
then they'd be sueing each other for copying each other.
ok, all jokes aside, they would make the "best game ever". then in a few years another "best game ever" would come along. and when i put best game ever in quotes, it's because it's all subject to opinion.
This sounds like a great idea, but it will never happen. I'm guessing that it would be some sort of open world MMO shooter with jaw dropping set pieces and a feeling of monotony and solitude?
First, Valve would provide the engine and distribution mechanism as a foundation.
Then, Team Ico would build atop this foundation a relatively artsy game.
Finally, Blizzard would quit the team and make their own game that completely rips off Valve/Ico's game but streamlines it.
I'm not saying this will ever happen, mostly due to every company to one up eachother, but its interesting to think about, what would come out of it?
Of course it would never happen in our lifetime taking into account how long it takes Valve and ICO to make games and every Tuesday it would be down because its awesomness would have to be tended to.
