Alright, Team Ninja made some great games with the Ninja Gaiden series. I never really played teh dead or alive series so I cannot comment on those games. I am curious as to why the developers who are obviously talented seemed to have drop the ball when working on a different Franchise. Take Metroid other M for example, that game was not in fact good. From the voice acting, tone, and general feel of the game. Now the team is work on a Devil May Cry reboot called DMC. So far the trailer for the game has me scratching my head. So far it pretty much looks like a lack luster game waiting to happen.

What are your thoughts?

Nobody tries to make bad games ...

However, a lot of the issues with subpar games is due to crappy playtesting.

I'm a supporter of "free" playtesting by having a beta. I mean, if there are issues people complain about during beta, and you fix them, it's gonna be a better product, no?

A company called Team Ninja, who made a game called Ninja Gaiden completely missed the point on Ninja's.

Of course they have no clue what the fuck they are doing.
They're called Team Ninja because they're the team that works on Ninja Gaiden, silly. Same as Sonic Team is called Sonic Team because they're the team that works on Sonic The Hedgehog.

Team ninja isn't working on the dmc remake, that's ninja theory.

I could see why you would get the two mixed up though, so im not blaming you.

Kind of irrelevant, your perception of reality is pretty skewed if you take anything to do with Ninjas seriously.

I've never been a fan of hack and slash games, so I only played about ten minutes of Ninja Gaiden 2, but I DID play Other M. And now I don't like them very much.

That still doesn't change the fact that a game with "Ninja" in the title completely misses the point of Ninjas.
You expected something like Tenchu?

This is the OTHER definition of ninjas. The badass, crazy, flipping all over the walls and shooting fireballs out of their hands kind.

Then, what exactly is the point of ninjas? I can't wait to read this.

Because, if you've somehow completely missed the NES-era Ninja Gaiden games (which is what the Team Ninja games were throwbacks to/sequels of) and are looking for an historically accurate ninja game...that would be a very, very, very excruciatingly boring video game.

Highly trained stealthy agents that blend in the surroundings and can use anything they find in a deadly way to get out of sticky situations.

Not a flashy badass with countless weapons (including magic) and body armor. ;)
Uhh...you did play the original NG games on the NES, right?

And besides, the deadliness of the ninja is pure, unadulterated myth. They were in reality some of the crappiest combatants and assassins in history. Great spies and saboteurs, though. I'd strongly suggest reading some of Stephen Turnbull's work, he's one of the foremost scholars on east Asian military history and has actually written a book or two on this very topic.

The Tenchu series is pretty good, even though it still incorporates a lot of fantastic and anachronistic elements.
