I booted up my computer to find the DPS not running, and throwing error 1053 when I tried to restart it in services.msc, ran as admin. in spite of only running for around a second. An attempt to edit the registry to circumvent this failed.
I then attempted the following fix in CMD:
Net localgroup administrators /delete networkservice. (Same for localservice)
I then re-added them with net localgroup administrators /add networkservice
And again for the localservice. I then reset my computer, to find both functions still refusing to start. I then, with UVK, reset the IP, winsock and proxy settings as well as the hosts file. This also had no effect, as did a reset of my wireless card.
Suspecting malware, I ran a scan with MWB only to find a measly PUP which I removed anyway (PUP.software.updater). This had no effect as well.
I then ran an SFC scan, registered the system DLLs, and defragmented the C drive, this also had no effect.
I'm stumped. And I don't have the OS install disk, because if I did I would have reinstalled the OS by this point. I am running win7 home premium x64.
If anyone could help...
