Okay, well.. I know these forums aren't really the place for this, but, I know that there are tech worthy people over the Escapist, and I don't know where else to turn...

Recently, I have been trying to install DirectX10, I have Vista, so this shouldn't be an issue. Yet every time I run the setup, it automatically becomes corrupt, (An alert appears, saying so) and the installation fails... Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you guys. ><

Redownload it if you havent already. Aslo checkt hat your installing the right version ( 32 bit/ 64 bit. not actually sure if it comes in those variants but eh). Also ensure your video card is compatible with it(most likely is).

I've tried redownloading it. Every time I do so, Windows tells me the new one I have downloaded is corrupt, and the installation fails.

No way in HELL am I reinstalling Windows. I have done that more times than I am comfortable with. I guess I'll go download an earlier version, although that wouldn't explain why it keeps getting corrupted.

EDIT: Didn't work. Started with DX9 instead, the EXE still got corrupted.

Sounds like something interfering with the extraction process. I have heard of Forefront Endpoint Protection causing these exact problems but obviously don't know if your running this or anything similar.

Have you tried disabling all non essential services etc at startup, (not sure if you can install it in safe mode which might work)

Oh, and now when I run the chkdsk utility, it goes about checking for about 20 seconds, does nothing but display some corrupted things, then closes without another word.
