Right, I'm at my wits end. I've been running Windows 7 for a while now and have had no problems running my monitor through VGA at a res of 1920x1080. Last night there was a catastrophic error with firefox that basically crippled my machine. I inserted the windows 7 CD and nuked my whole machine.
I'm now up and running but with a problem. I can't get 1920x1080 any more through my 8600GT using VGA. It's killing me! I do a lot of photography work and simply cannot run in an incorrect format where everything looks stretched and fuzzy.
I was wondering if anyone here had encountered a similar problem, and what they did to solve it. My first thought was to get hold of a DVI-VGA convertor plug and start outputting the signal from the DVI output on the graphics card, I don't know whether it'll make a difference?
I've already tried my previous solution, which was to create a custom res of 1920x1080 at 59hz instead of 60, but now it's saying it's not compatible. I can see the option for 1920x1080 in the NVidia control panel, but it's forcing it back to 1600x1200 every time! Using older software/drivers has also failed
I've searched the web and have come up wanting, this is the last place that I can think of that may have sufficient grey-matter to solve my problem! I'm off to work and will revisit this later.
Here's hoping!
