Whilst a mod may get angry at me for posting a thread with no real discussion, I find myself in a bit of a pickle and not knowing what to do. So I pre-ordered a copy of Red Dead Redemption's Limited Edition for the release date, and it came! Great! But, after sometime of play its started to cause my Xbox to make a nigh deafening humming noise, accompanied by lots of clunking (no jokes about this being normal with 360's, please) as well as numerous bugs with the game happening pretty much every time I've played it. And I'd be lying if I said I hadn't encountered this before, having numerous occasions when this has happened, a game has become corrupted and I've had to routinely purge my hard drive.

So! Getting to the point, is the copy the problem? Will another copy run fine with the same data still on my console's hard drive or is all hope lost?

Hopefully someone will be able to answer this as I know very little about how the Xbox works other than as a way of annoying twelve year olds.

Sounds like the Hard Drive is about to fail. I would get it serviced.
It only seems to happen with Red Dead, I can say, switch to playing Battlefield immediately afterwards, without waiting for anything to cool down or such and it'll run perfectly.

Well it could happen that the HD space where Red Read is installed is faulting, but that would be a long shot. My money is with the game pushing the 360 too much and making it do all the weird noises, which I think are the fans.

Get your 360 to a more ventilated space, make sure you don't play for hours and, you know, pray.

Red Dead is quite glitchy so I don't think that's your XBox, but it sounds to me like it's about to Red Ring! :(

Alright, so it turns out Red Dead Redemption was corrupted, the good news being it hasn't Red Ringed. I still happen to need more advice though, damnit. I'm really taking advantage of your charities here.

Number one: If I get a new copy will I be able to keep my unlockables from the Limited Edition? Are they bound to my Xbox Live account rather than the game itself?

Number two: I appear to have lost the ability to perform maintenance from the menu, and x, x, lb, rb, x, x doesn't seem to be doing anything. Advice on how to discover what else is corrupted without having to go through all my games would be nice as well.

Oh, and if I were to cleanse my hard drive of Bad Company 2 temporarily, would I still keep my multiplayer progress and the like?

(Shameless double post, sorry. Please don't hurt me, mods, you know I love you!)
