I was only introduced to them a year and a half ago, so I absorbed everything at once. I liked their new album, but not as much as Danse Macabre.

I really wish 14 year old kids would quit making half-assed music videos on Youtube though.

I used to go to all night warehouse raves in Seattle in the late 90's (till 2001).. was a lot of fun.

Hands down my favorite overall is Richie Hawtin (also known as Plastikman).. really good detroit techno (and I mean techno as the subgenre, not the generic genre everyone on MTV thinks as Techno which is all electronic music).. some other DJ's I liked was like Frankie Bones (tech house), Donald Glaude (funky house), DJ Dan (funky house), DJ Tiesto (anthem trance), Armin Van Buren (anthem trance), Paul Van Dyke (trance), Paul Oakenfold (anthem trance), Dieselboy (jungle/d&b), DJ Dara (jungle/d&b), Gridlok (jungle/d&b).. good stuff.

I love just about everything from the electronica genre, from Hardstyle to Trance to Happy Hardcore, I love it all. I dont really have a specific favorite artist. I'll just throw a few good trance artists out there though, ATB, DJ Encore, and Ferry Corsten are all artists I enjoy.

Basshunter is probably the worst thing to ever happen to the genre.

1: His music is crappy and designed for younger teenagers.
2: He claims he's a nerd, making texts referring to gaming in general, thus making us true gamers look like douchebags.
3: He actually rips off his own material, making "new songs" by taking an old song, changing the bass line a little, then using some other crappy text.

That being said:

If you're going to listen to Trance, then atleast listen to good trance, and by good trance i mean older trance, Cosmic Gate, System F, Robert Miles, Mario Picotto, Sash!, ATB...Any of them will do, because then atleast you'll get some quality and not just some 5 minute work some douchebag created for DOTA (Which by itself is awesome).

Anyone can learn to play an instrument. It's making good and interesting tunes with that instrument that makes a good musical artist, and that's not something that can be learned really.

Coming up with a really catchy tune in your head methinks is the most important part of music.
